Which toolkits and projects do you use?

Core languages are Javascript, PHP. Primarily focused on Node.js at the moment. Reluctantly strong in Java. An on/off relationship with Python and a slight crush on Scala. On the frontend I'm a (cautious, skeptical) user of jQuery, and a sometime maintainer & user of Ojay. Some favourite libraries on the backend are CodeIgniter and Connect. Current mild obsession with developer toolchains, build systems, deployment, 'devops' -- git, Jenkins, Puppet etc.

What do you hope to learn about at a future event?

Want to see & hear more about the real-world experiences, problems, painpoints, victories and grey areas of folk working on a wide range of dynamic systems. Particularly interested in ... ... learning what the state of the art is in the dynamic web, and where and how people are getting on with the current wave of technologies (the new HTML5 APIs, Web Sockets etc) ... the fuzzy (rough?) edges of modern web development; where the separation between backend dev and frontend dev breaks down; holistic questions & concerns. ... learning about effective scalability, what works and what doesn't. ... maintainability of code. We can all hack on cool shit, but can we do so reliably, continually, stably over time? If so, how -- what are the tradeoffs? ... meeting interesting folk doing clever magical things. ... showing my projects to the same folk and getting feedback.

Introduction

Hi, I'm a full-stack web hacker, currently working mostly on backend stacks/services. Javascript fanboi but a generalist & polyglot. Trenches experience as senior dev in an agency (Front/backend and beyond -- ops, client mgmt), moving to startups.
