Flex London User Group - The Future

Dear all, I know it's been very quiet recently and a lot of you have wondered what is going on with the group. Well as most will know Chester has stepped down as user group manager and in doing so wanted to find like minded individuals to take over the organization and running of the group.

To that end I wanted to let you know that the group is still active and has new hands at the helm, in the shape of myself and Drew Martin. We're in the process of getting all of the paperwork out of the way so we can refer to ourselves as the official Adobe Flex London user group managers; and we are looking to hold a group session in August (Date TBC).

We're also looking at restructuring the group a bit so that it doesn't solely revolve around chatting in the pub - while I enjoyed the Flug-in-the-pub sessions, it does limit what we can actually do, and can act as a barrier for new attendees who want to learn more about tips, tricks and techniques in Flex. To that end we are looking in to the idea of holding presentations - both physical and via Acrobat Connect; for the physical ones we can always head to the pub afterwards too biggrin. That's not to say that the Flug-in-the-pub is gone, just moved to a less frequent (probably quarterly) event that happens outside of the regular group meet ups.

We have some other ideas of things to include beyond presentations but we'll unveil those as we get the group going again after this hiatus.

Obviously we won't have thought of everything so if you have any ideas / thoughts / suggestions please feel free to reply to this mail and include them. Also if you'd like to present a session to the group please let us know as well as we're actively looking for speakers (although we're not really looking for creds presentations).

Lastly, if you don't agree with anything here and would prefer to just keep the beer flowing, let us know as well (we're big enough to take it tongue), and I'm sure we can find some middle ground smile

We're looking forward to providing you all with the information, inspiration and location for all your Flex needs.

Mike & (on behalf of) Drew
