Reading Meetup

We will finish the Bob Dylan songs (Just Like a Woman) + the Bei Dao poem.  Then we will cover the speech by Shaolan about learning chinese characters from the ted talk at:

For those who haven't been before, we read paragraphs in a circle, in the language you are wishing to learn.  Basically native-chinese speakers read in English, everyone else reads in Chinese.  This is for upper intermediate and above learners - you don't have to be a perfect sight reader of Chinese characters since you can use the Pinyin enhanced PDF if you prefer.  For the advanced studentit is obviously better to read pure Chinese.  The plain text files are supplied for that since they are more suitable for tablet apps such as the Pleco Document Reader (downloadable from appstore, googleplay)

Anyway, all the materials are available below.

PDF (Pinyin and Translations) here (for both Bob Dylan & Shao Lan)

Bob Dylan (plain text files) Chinese Text    English Text

Shaolan Talk (plain text files) Chinese Text    English Text

Shaolan Talk Youtube Text-To-Speech (introduces the major vocabulary with machine generated speech)
