Re: [londonmandarinlearners] Chinese corpora?

I was toying with the idea of writing some software that I could give Chinese characters and/or words and it would give me real life examples of usage by looking up the character/word in the corpus (there are open source indexing systems that should make this relatively easy to do).

However, all I've found so far are web sites that let me use a web search interface to look up individual words but don't give me the option to download the entire corpus and index it myself.

Try this: http://corpus.leeds.ac.uk/query-zh.html

What's it for?

Hi folks

Anyone know of any freely downloadable (free) Chinese corpora or large collection of text (preferably in simplified characters)?

Ideally, this would reflect modern Chinese usage and be from various sources.

cheers

Dave
