It’s with great pleasure that we would like to invite you all to the first London’s Royal Open Badminton Tournament. This shall be an open friendly tournament between players of various calibres enabling you to meet and greet other Badminton enthusiasts! Please read on for some important information regarding the tournament. 


We would also like to kindly request that you forward this email to other Badminton enthusiasts to broaden our reach.


Registration Information:

 

In this email you shall find the Registration form which you are required to fill in detail if you wish to participate and email it ONLY to [address removed] you may also call Sree at[masked] if need be (no messages and if no answer please recall at a later period, thank you). The Registration deadline has not been set though the earlier the better preferably by the 15th of September  this date may be altered depending on the number of applicants. 

 

Categories:

 

·         MD (Men’s Doubles)

·         FD (Women’s Doubles)

·         XD (Mixed Doubles)

If you are competing in more than one category please fill out one Registration Form per category you are competing in.

 

Tournament Date:

 

22nd of September 2013

 

Timings:

 

To enable an appropriate structure for the tournament this piece of information shall be decided and be presented to you all more precisely at a later date closer to the tournament once the Registration date has passed.

 

Venue:    

 

Lampton Sports Center, Lampton Ave, London, Hounslow TW3 4EP

This is most likely the venue we shall be using for the tournament however if due to some unforeseen problems can be subject to change and will be a venue in the vicinity. 


Draws & Groups:

 

For this tournament we shall make a random selection of teams which will play against random teams in each round; this is mainly due to us not knowing and being able to access the level and calibre of all participating player/team. All selections will be made in a completely random draw.

 

To enable an appropriate structure for the tournament this piece of information shall be decided and be presented to you all more precisely at a later date closer to the tournament once the Registration date has passed. 

 

Late Arrivals:

 

We presume that there shall be a large number of rounds and matches, due to us having a time limit for this tournament this issue shall be dealt with in a very strict manor. A grace period of 5 minutes shall be given for any late arrivals (to their set match); if you are not able to meet this time limit the opposition team will be awarded a bye (walkover). We advise that you should pre-plan your travel in advance to avoid unnecessary disappointments.

 

There shall be continues matches proceeding throughout the tournament and it is advised that you stay in the venue. Anyone who leaves the venue leaves at their own risk and is still expected to attend their match within the allocated time period if you fail to do so it shall lead to the opposition receiving a walkover.

 

Basic Rules:

 

·         During a set the side pair scores 21 points first shall win

·         The pair winning a rally shall be awarded one point

·         If a score reaches 20-20, the pair which scores two consecutive points shall win the set

·         If the score reaches 29-29, the pair which scores the 30th point first shall win the set

·         The judgement of the allocated line judge is final and can only be overruled by the standing main referee

·         The judgement of standing main referee is final and cannot be overruled.

·         If the tournament layout holds a best out of three sets:

§  The pair winning the toss gets to choose between court or service

§  If the same pair succeeds to win two consecutive games the third game shall not commence

§  If the match proceeds till the third set, the pairs shall change sides after reaching 11 points (can be overlooked if both pairs concur)

 

Shuttles:

 

This can be subject to change and if so all acknowledged participants shall be notified.

 

Travel:

 

Those who are planning to arrive by car please take into consideration the traffic bearing in mind the possibility of traffic jams and roadwork’s.

Those who are travelling via public transport, please check for any maintenance works and plan accordingly.

 

Parking:

 

Please note that there is a large parking area at the venue itself however in the unlikely event that it becomes full you will be able to park alongside the curb outside the venue.


Food/Beverages:

 

Paid light Beverages/Snacks shall be available at the venue for those who wish it; there are also some Off-License shops and Take Away’s in the vicinity.

 

We would like you to bear in mind that you shall not be permitted to consume Food/Drink on or near the badminton courts themselves.

 

Lockers:

 

We advise that you make use of the lockers available at the leisure centre. All participants are to watch over their belongings and we shall not be able to be held for the loss of any items.

Li-Ning A60 Feather badminton shuttles (Goose Feathers; Head made from Plywood with a speed of -5/78).

 

This can be subject to change and if so all acknowledged participants shall be notified.

 

Travel:

 

Those who are planning to arrive by car please take into consideration the traffic bearing in mind the possibility of traffic jams and roadwork’s.

Those who are travelling via public transport, please check for any maintenance works and plan accordingly.

Bear in mind that the venue is in 20-25mins walking distance from the Slough Train station from here you may catch a Taxi from the train station with a price of approx £5 pounds. 

 

Parking:

 

Please note that there is limited parking available at the venue itself; if you find that there are no parking slots available at the venue you may wish to find a parking spot at - The Centre, Farnham Road, Slough, SL1 4UT
