The Musicians Meetup is run by london Arts Network
This group is for anybody with an interest in performing, composing or studying music. There is no emphasis on any particular style or instrument, and people with all levels of ability and experience are welcome.
The group holds live and studio music performances and social gatherings for musicians.
There is also a message board where people can advertise their gigs, band members wanted/available, instruments for sale, musical services offered, etc.
The group has a membership fee of £5 per 6 months and holds several activities including:
Studio meetings: where people can get together in studio a and perform their music to each other. This is an opportunity to to a bit of rehearsing and performance of your material, get some feedback from other performers, and potentially link up with others you might want to play with in the studio, or even work with long term.
If you don’t have material of your own to play you can still come along and potentially play with others.
Social gathering/performance night: this is a monthly meeting for people to socialise, discuss what they’d like to do in future, and for the active members to try out their material in a low-key setting to a small audience. There will be 4-6 acts performing at each event, for about 15-20 mins each, either solo musicians or small band/ensembles.
Charity Events: This are shows to raise money for suitable charities. As well as raising money for some worthwhile cause, this should help to bring in a bigger audience. The idea is that people who’ve been developing their act in the studio meetings and/or performance nights can get some live exposure to a real audience, and hopefully move on from there to doing their own gigs. People who are already have a gigging band/act can also perform at these.
If you’re not interested in any of the above: You can still be a member of the Musicians meetup group, come to the social gatherings, performances, etc, and use the message board to post ads for musicians, gigs, equipment for sale, etc. Please remember that your use of the groups facilities is a privilege, not a right, and any inappropriate, disruptive or offensive members may be removed without warning.
What we don’t do: Jam nights, open mic nights, or personally match people up with other musicians - you’ll have plenty of opportunity to hook up with other musicians to play with at any of our events, but we can’t do this for you – please use the message board to advertise what you’re looking for or come along and chat to people.
Any questions please don’t hesitate to contact the organisers
