This group is for people who enjoy playing covers of popular songs, (pop, rock, folk, country, blues and soul), reasonably in time and in tune with others. The idea is to make some music together, have some fun, and to share ideas and songs, in a relaxed, friendly environment.
We are mainly an acoustic group, although electric guitar and bass players who bring their own amps are also welcome.
As well as our general music jams, we occasionally have folk, traditional and bluegrass music jam sessions.
We play quite a wide range of music in our general jams - to give you a rough idea, so far we have played songs by Bob Dylan, Corinne Bailey Rae, Johnny Cash, Adele, Norah Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Natalie Imbruglia, Bob Marley, The Eagles, Tracy Chapman, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Simon and Garfunkel, The Pogues, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, The Cure, The Kinks and The Waterboys, among many others.
These jams are open to anyone who enjoys playing in time and in tune with other people. (It's OK to join in with a simple accompaniment, as long as it's in step with what the others are playing. More experienced musicians can play specific parts and harmonies etc. if they want to - again, timing is key).
All musical instruments welcome - acoustic and classical guitar, electric guitar, voice, bodhran, violin / fiddle, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, flute, accordion, keyboards, tin whistle, djembe and other drums and percussion... If you have a lightweight keyboard, it may be possible to bring it along and plug it in. We sometimes have electric/bass guitarists joining us, but they need to bring their own amps/ speakers.
We meet up two or three times per month, either in Central London or West London. At the moment we usually meet near Ealing Broadway, not to far from Acton, Hammersmith, Chiswick, Kilburn, Kew, Richmond, Wembley, Greenford, Brentford and Hanwell.
We sometimes meet in Earl's Court, near Kensington, Notting Hill, and quite handy for Shepherd's Bush, Fulham, Bayswater, Clapham Junction (7 minutes from West Brompton Station in Earl's Court - London Overground), Westbourne Park (bus 328) and Victoria Station (District Line), Putney, Barnes, Battersea, Wandsworth, Chelsea, and Pimlico.
We may go and listen to some live music from time to time. Let me know if you have any ideas for song suggestions, alternative venues, and/or gigs, open mic nights or ceilidhs we could go to.
Come and join us! Bring your guitars, mandolins, fiddles, drums, voices... Looking forward to seeing you soon, Louisa.
