***IMPORTANT - proposed date change to Sunday the 10th, same time (10:30 meet), because I've now got an obligation on Saturday morning that I can't get out of. I've sent an email to all the "yes" RSVPs - please let me know if this works for you! ***
I would like to propose that we meet up at the beautiful Chelsea Physic Garden, a very historic garden in Chelsea that was developed in 1673 as an Apothecaries Garden, to take part in their Snowdrop Days on Saturday, February 9th. We will walk around and look at the beautiful blooming snow drops, enjoy some mulled wine in their cafe, and go on a guided tour of the garden.
You can read more about the garden and how to get there (the garden is a short walk from Sloane Square underground station) on their website:
A description of Snowdrop Days from the website:
"Join us at London's oldest botanic garden for a snowdrop extravaganza. Discover dozens of fascinating types on our Snowdrop Trail and on display in the Snowdrop Theatre.
A wide selection of snowdrops and other winter-flowering plants, from specialist nurseries, will also be on sale.
Take a free guided tour, visit the Shop for garden related gifts and enjoy brunch, a warming stew or mulled wine at the Tangerine Dream Café.
Adults (incl. Senior Citizens) £9
Concessions: Children (5-15 yrs), students and unemployed £6
Under 5s free. Friends of the Garden plus one guest: Free."
A description of the guided walk, which begins at 11 and is free with admission:
"Nick Bailey’s Best in Snow - a guided walk with our Head Gardener focussing on winter flowering species, including varieties of snowdrops"
I propose that we meet at the entrance to the garden at 10:30 so that we can catch the guided tour at 11. Then we can take as much free time as we like to explore the garden and socialize in the cafe.
Let's hope for good weather, and get out and see some blooms!
