So you ‘know’ the basics of studio lighting, you’ve been on the Introduction to Studio Lighting and Portrait Studio Lighting courses and maybe done a couple of off-camera flash workshops, but you don’t feel as though you’ve had enough hands on experience to really feel comfortable in going out on your own and hiring studio for a shoot. So we have devised Studio Freestylin’ sessions where you will share with one other photographer one hour in a studio with two studio lights and a model. The premise of this session is for you to come into the studio space and set-up the lights and work with the model yourself.
There will be two members of the LPMG Lighting Crew there to assist you where required, however the focus of this session is to give you the time and space required to start to feel comfortable in setting up the lighting and models yourself.
What will you need:
An SLR or similar camera with standard hot-shoe. If you do not have a standard hot-shoe you will need to provide an adaptor for the flash triggers. If you are in doubt ask to make sure you are not disappointed on the day.
You will need to know how to put your camera into Manual mode and change the aperture and shutter speed. If you aren't sure bring your manual with you or have a look online before the day.
You will need to have researched and prepared for 2-3 various studio lighting set-ups and model poses/shotlists.
The models will be expecting to take away a copy of the images at the end of the session. You will need to shoot Jpeg or Raw & Large Jpeg so please come with clean memory cards so we can download the images quickly.
