Behance Portfolio Review

  • May 17, 2014 · 10:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

LPMG and Behance have teamed up to give you the opportunity to get your portfolio reviewed by specialist reviewers and your peers.

Have you taken pictures, showed it to people and wondered if you are getting an honest or best assessment of your work? Or worse still kept it to yourself?  In this portfolio review session you'll have access to reviewers who'll give  you constructive feedback and give you advice on what you can do to take your work to the next level . After which you can mingle, network, socialise and show your portfolio to a wider audience over a few drinks.

Photography is made for sharing, let's see yours!

Details:

You don't need to have hard copy portfolio to get your work reviewed, you can show your work in digital format on laptops and tablets (smart phones are generally too small)

Because of the number of portfolios we have to limit each portfolio to 7 photographs, but you'll be able to show the rest of  your work to other people during the event, as well take a look at their work.

As there is a time limitation on the event only the first 20 people signed up will be able to get their work reviewed, but that is not to say you  can't come along and have your worked looked at or maybe  just come along to have a few drinks , meet other photographers and discuss all things photography.

When signing up (first 20 people), you need to indicate what category your portfolio falls under. The categories are

Portraits

Landscapes/cityscapes

Action

Travel

General (weddings, family, nature or a mix of any of the above etc.)

This is to ensure you are directed to the best people to look at your portfolio.

There'll be a prize for the best photo of the day along with a raffle.

Share your passion!

The work shown on the day was exceptional. The criticism was very constructive which is always balm to the hapless beginner (like myself). The whole event was well organised thanks to Alex and Jean.

Hey everyone I'd like to contact Galena who isn't listed here but was a visitor with one of you yesterday. It's regarding a discussion about her website which I'm having trouble locating. Could she send me her web address to [masked]? Hope she gets this message via one of you.

Dear Alex, JC and all the others that made today possible. I am still on Cloud 9. I went there with no expectations, and came back with such high expectations:) Meaning ... the onus now rests upon myself. Thank you to the judges for your vote of confidence. I thought that today was going to involve a 15-minute session, followed by a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down. I was prepared for the latter, so coming away from there with a white envelope tucked into my pocket was unexpected, to say the least. A special thanks for the reviewers and selection panel who sacrificed their Saturday for no personal gain, other than assisting others. Best wishes, Andre

Got so much out of this and will try harder with the new Canon. Thanks Richard and Ramesh for your advice re compact and dslr. And the food was good! Took half the Aberdeen Angus burger home and had it for tea. Alex should get a cut of the review I'm going to give of the venue's menu. The portfolios displayed were astounding ;thanks to a great group Alex, and your organisers. Next time hopefully will be showing my dslr images. Erin

Hi I have just registered! Mine will be documentary photography - a mix of travel, portraits, street - so I guess it would fall into the General category? Also, if we are less then 20 people in the end, any chance we could show a few more photos - maybe 15 or 20 each instead. 7 is very little… thanks!

Hello Carolina, there will be an opportunity for you to show your other shots and get feedback after the main review, you will need to pick out the 7 of your shots for the main review and also to put one forward into the competition. I would advise you pick out your shot for the competition before the day, then see if the reviewers agree with your selection and opinion on your shots. You’ll have the chance to change your competition shot if you want.
We find 7 shots forces people to take a more subjective view on their photos than they would if they were to select 15-20 shots, this forces people to take a harder stance on their images as to which ones really are their best ones.

    Hi
Mine will be street photography, so I think action would best suit my work. Looking forward to meeting people.

As it's only seven I'm afraid my General Category might look a bit confused with no real theme. I had arranged for 14. As it's a digital portfolio I can easily bring both. Is that number allowed a hard and fast rule? (7)
