----- SUNDAY 6 APRIL -------
(please note that the email originally said Saturday, but the bus only runs on a Sunday)
Join us for a trip out of London to walk along the top of the famous white chalk cliffs around Beachy Head, part of the South Downs. One of the spectacular places in Britain, the 531 ft white chalk cliffs of Beachy Head, with its two lighthouses, offer a great opportunity for photographers.
We will be taking the train to Eastbourne, and then the bus up to Beachy Head, and walk along the cliffs to the Belle Tout lighthouse and then down to Birling Gap and then onto the first of the next set of white cliffs, the Seven Sisters.
We will then return by bus from Birling Gap to look at Eastbourne Pier built in 1863, before returning to London.
As this is England, be sure to wear weather proof clothing, and since we will be walking up and down the downs, you will need suitable footwear and be prepared to walk 3-4 miles.
We intend to catch the 9.43am train from London Victoria to Eastbourne, and return on the 18.44 or 19.44 train (or earlier if you want to).
Yopu will need to get yourself a rail ticket to Eastbourne (best online), and a day-bus ticket (which you can get on the bus). At present you can get a £15 daysave return from London Victoria to Eastbourne, and a day bus ticket for £7.
For the £15 day return, please book your rail ticket online with Southern Rail, making sure that you specify London Victoria and use the "Daysave" option. You can then pick up the tickets from the ticket dispensers.
More information to come shortly.
