Old enough to have used photographic plates, I became a 35mm film user in the early 1960s, and 'went digital' in 2007. I use a DSLR whenever I need to use long focal lengths or zoom lenses, but prefer to carry a digital rangefinder camera and prime lenses.
Photography is both a hobby and partly a profession. (I'm a journalist, and the days when we had an accompanying photographer are long over - nowadays we're expected to take our own pics.)
Bought my first camera in 1956, an elderly and anonymous box camera that cost me 6d in pre-decimal money (about 50p at today’s prices), as did a roll of outdated 120 film from the local chemist. Photography has been a hobby ever since.
A friendly group with a good mixture of ages and levels of photographic skill. I can't imagine any new member not feeling that they fitted in.
