Amazing effect Jedd. How did you chrome plate the cannon?

Thanks Brian. Really liking the shots you've posted too - very good composition (I feel well qualified to say this, as I'm quite poor on the composition side of things, so quite envious). My shot here was a 3x (+/- 1 EV) HDR using Luminance HDR and the Fattal effect, which is typically a 'bit too strong' for most tastes and use cases, but seemed to work nicely here - followed by a tiny bit of sharpness (my camera produces quite soft JPG's). I didn't even notice all those scratches on the cannon myself at the time I took the shot. :)

Thanks Jedd. Composition is easy, learning it is the hard part. It used to be a requirement at art school that students copied works of the old masters in order to learn technique and composition. That can still be applied to photography. I learned a lot by copying my heroes. A big influence is the work of cinematographers and TV cameramen. Great composition, with the added complication of movement. Just look at the paintings of John Constable - great compositions. Now I just walk around with nothing particular in mind, on a consious level anyway, but I developed my own "eye" based on what I like, which stops me dead when I see something that matches its criteria, and up goes the camera, and with a bit of fine tuning, its in the bag. Hope that makes sense.
