Historic Rochester - A day trip back in time

My first and only multi-image HDR attempt with this camera. I'll post a black and white version on Flickr later today.

Hi Dan. Another great photo, but why spoil it by converting to mono?! I have my own subversive views on the subject. I've just downloaded to flickr an Amateur Photographer "Backchat" I wrote. Let me know what you think!

Hi Brian, that is a good question... why go mono? Well, one reason is that my style is evolving to more realistic or subtle colours, so to fit in with a series, I have to consider stylistic options. As for practice, monocrhome helps see the composition and remove the distractions of colour. In this image, I don't think the colour, except perhaps in the sky, are distractions though. Someone once said if you want to see the colour of a man's shirt, use colour [film]. Use black & white if you want to see the colour of their soul. That can apply to landscapes as well. Then there's the look from the lenses/camera... I like the look of the B&W. Now I'm currious about your submission to "backchat"...
