We've all have encountered situations where natural light only does not allow
us to take the picture we'd like to get. We then have tried our camera popup flash
or even stick a proper flashgun on the camera, but the result was such that we've just
gave up and go for available light. This fotogym will teach you the basis of the off camera
flash photography and help you to understand the flashgun, a great accessory that
will be your own portable available light that you can choose to use whenever you lack of good one.
The session will be run by Huy with the help of 5 other photographers: Ritz, Rams, Masood, Paulo and Jonathan.
10:00 - 11:00 breakfast
11:00 - 12:00 about 1 hour talk about flash photography
12:00 - 12:15 preparation of the rooms (everyone is going to participate as this is part of a real life situation)
12:15 - 13:45 indoor flash workshop
13:45 - 15:15 outdoor flash workshop
15:30 - 16:15 lunch
16:15 - 17:00 showcase of pictures taken

Hi all,
It's amazing that thuis meetup is already full.
It would be interesting for us to know, among those that will be present to the fotogym:
- who has experience in flash photography and your level.
- what are you expecting from the fotogym
- is there something specific in flash photography you would like to be discussed
Please answer this in our LPMG's forum:

Hi. I've found the following guide about Flash for Canon EOS cameras:
http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-flash/![]()

Not to take anything off you guys, but I thought canon users can use it to understand their Flash system a bit better before coming to the session.
Please can you let me know if a space becomes available. Thanks
The fotogym is full, but come back 1 week or few days before, there will be probably some place freed up.
If you are willing to learn, I do advise you to visit this page:

This is where all of us have learned flash photography and how to light your pictures better. The "Lighting 101" is a free online course. You can read it only or go thru the whole blog since the beginning (like I did...) and I guarantee that you will improve your work in few months only. All for free! This will give you some basis before the fotogym.
Don't worry if you missed out. I'm sure we will have another and I'll bet it will be even better than the first :)
I'm really looking forward for tomorrow but I have a question. Well, two actually. Do I need to take a ticket print? I noticed the option above but problem is I don't have printer at home and I'm off from work today. Other thing: do I need to have a flash gun for this event? I'm still looking for the best to buy at moment so all I have in the good old in built flash. If anyone knows cheers!
Hi Suzy,
You don't need a ticket. What you will need is to secure a place on the RSVP system, which you have ;o)
Do you NEED a flash gun for the event? You won't, but if you have one bring it along. I'll be taking a couple of spares with me on a first come first served basis.
Hi all.
Thanks for joining the fotogym today. I'm glad to see that you've enjoyed all my team hard work and that you have learned more about flash photography.
Do't hesitate to contact one of us if you want one on one session or for any question related to this fotogym.
Thanks for LPMG organisers also for this event.
I'm glad you all enjoyed it as much as I did. If you want more information about flash synchronisation and your shutter, then you might find this article useful

Great PhotoGym, really enjoyed the chance to really practice on willing classmates - thanks guys. Very informative, picked up a few invaluable tips and many great sources of strobist info and equipment.
Sounds like a fantastic session. Please organise another soon, on a date I can come :-)
Hi everyone,
Thanks for your comments about our presentation.
I'm glad you all enjoyed it as much as we did putting it together for you.
We'll definately be working towards another one in the near future.
I'll probably be at the next Cheeky Wednesday (August 4th) so feel free to ask me any questions then.
Look forward to seeing you all again.
Rams
