Here's an update.

inSpiral is booking a table for us in my name. So, I've opened up the event.

*I love the venue, don't want them to lose business and want to continue to have cordial relations with them.*

*Could you therefore please confirm that you're a firm yes RSVP?*

*If you can't make it after all as we go along, could you please update your RSVP status as we near the time of the meetup?*

*Please make sure that you actually change your RSVP status* (rather than only contacting me via email or posting a comment) as this will automatically sign up and inform people on the waiting list.

I'm handling the 2-for-1 special pairing list separately.

No worries if we end up with an odd number of people: I'll go for the 2-for-1 on my own and take my other meal to go.

This is a hosted event. Hosting an event involves agreeing to a host (!) of sensibly-thought out and carefully-crafted rules designed by this group's organisers to ensure the smooth running of meaningful events. As a hostess, I've happily agreed to comply with them. Which is the reason why the event was promoted from a "suggested" to an "announced" status. :-)

As I posted in a previous comment: "as inSpiral doesn't take any bookings, I have to save a table for the group myself. I have to save a table for the group myself. So, 8 is the maximum I can handle on my own. :-)
I've emailed the venue to see if a booking option is now available. If so, I'll open up the meetup.
Now, if this is something that you do in the group and if people like, we could work it out so that someone else comes in early as well to save an additional table."

The idea is that we gather and sit *together* for a fun-filled evening.
