I'm unhappy to be forced to write the following.
Some people have cancelled at the last possible minute for no reason (I don't mean you, Sheldon, who've just come down with a virus), and it is causing problems and annoyance, right and left.
First, I need to make a reservation and confirm it with the venue. I have to do it in my name. I like what the people do at inSpiral, and I don't want them to lose business because they've saved tables for us and potentially refused others. I also don't want to start having poor relations with them because of last-minute cancellations for events I organise on behalf of a group.

Hi, lots of interest for Tuesday's inSpiral evening! Great! :-)
I'm going to see whether I can make a reservation for a larger number of people. Before I commit to the venue though, I need to know if the people who've signed up are sure they're joining us.
So, could you please confirm here or change your RSVP status if you cannot make it for sure after all.
If you can't attend, please change your RSVP as the waiting list is handled automatically.
