Book Club @ Tibits

  • May 14, 2013 · 6:30 PM

Welcome to Book Club 2013 at Tibits.

We meet regularly on the second Tuesday of the month. Everyone is welcome, just bring yourself, a suggestion for the next book and a desire to eat some yummy food. You don't even have to have read this month's book but if you have even better (and an extra sticker)!

The book for this meeting is "A Pelican at Blandings" by P.G. Wodehouse.

The book for the next meeting is "Hidden in Plain Sight" by Dr. Andrew Thomas.

I recommend GreenMetropolis for second hand books, as all proceeds go either to the seller or charity

OMG the only other time a book made me laugh out loud in public was when I was reading Peter Fleming's 'Brazilian Adventure' ...

I had to fiddle with the settings (top right) to get ISBNs to display GBP.

Interestingly, is owned by abebooks, so maybe if we use that they will get affiliate fees even if you ultimately buy from Amazon.

I'll post some links for this month's book as examples.

I do agree about Amazon, though since books are zero-rated this may be less of an issue for some. Also I notice that a lot of independent bookstores use Amazon marketplace, as well as Alibris and Abebooks marketplaces. I think in future I will post links to a comparison site (e.g.,,, and let people make their own choice.

Hi have still not made it to a meet up yet, sorry, but I would like to suggest for those who have not, to read 'The Seat Of the Soul' ~ Gary Zukav

I'm sick of Amazon too (though I have great sympathy for their staff) so I've made my last 2 second hand purchases through Blackwells which also has a second-hand option

Though the website sends you a message saying your book will be suppled within 10 days I got notification of posting in both cases the next day.

Alibris is a great alternative to the unethical, tax-dodging, slave-driving Amazon empire for books/music : and The Book Depository are owned by Amazon booooohoooooo!!!!! Just wondering if the link to Amazon can at all be avoided ;-)

(I agree GreenMetropolis is best but it's a shame to still give an Amazon link...)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
