London Vegan Pledge - part 1

Not yet vegan? But interested in trying a vegan diet?

The London Vegan Pledge offers you the chance to try being vegan for a month, with dedicated help and support.

Once you have registered, you will be invited to attend a FREE
two-part "Introduction to Veganism" course. The sessions take place at the start and end of your vegan month on Sunday 12 May and Sunday 9 June from 11am–4pm at a venue in central London.

These informative events include: speakers, films, delicious vegan food, cookery demos, free recipe booklets, and basic health and nutrition advice from a GP and registered dietician. At the first meeting you will also be introduced to your vegan buddy who will support you during your month.

And all of this is completely free!

RSVPing to this Meetup neither commits you to attending nor guarantees you a place. If you'd like to attend, please register at:

And if you're already vegan, but would like to volunteer, please contact us at:

You can find the Meetup for the second part here:

Yes, I know and it was Sushi as well. I didn't plan it that way at all. Hopefully the 2nd session will be interesting as well.

Such a shame your hours were changed last minute. It was good of you to come along after doing a night shift (as I said on the day, my girlfriend Napak is a nurse too, so I quite understand).

Great! And I'd like the recipe for the hot pie that was served, amongst other dishes, for lunch. My compliments to all the chefs!

Has anyone apart from the main few organisers been provided with the address yet.. it is getting seriously close to the date.. I have heard nothing!

    • Robb

Hi again. Cathy advises me that Hannah is on top of this, and has been in touch with all volunteers to let them know the general location of the pledge. She'll be following up with full address details and a map before the event.

(We deliberately haven't made the address public as we can't accommodate walk-ins.)

      May 9, 2013

    • Lesley D.

Yes I have the address now thanks from Hannah.

Just to answer a couple of questions below...

Yes, registration is now closed. Sorry. But there is a waiting list (not here; on the Vegan Campaigns web site) in case anyone cancels beforehand.

Based on previous years, we are expecting some "no shows" on the day. But we have tried to take this into account when deciding at what point to close registrations. So we should get a sensible number of attendees.

For anyone who isn't able to participate in this year's London Vegan Pledge, we have included details of a number of other schemes - most of which are run online, and can be started at any time of the year. See

And for those who have registered successfully, or who are volunteering, I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Hi - Regarding Calissa's comment, is registration actually closed? I just clicked on the link and it seemed fine to me. I'd like to post it on facebook to my colleagues who are always in London. Thanks!

    May 6, 2013

  • Calissa

The Vegan Campaign pledge is fully booked and registration has been closed. I was really looking forward to this, I may carry out the pledge on my own...

    May 1, 2013

    • Lesley D.

That is a shame Calissa especially as they always have some no shows, but unfortunately they can never predict how many so they have to do this cut off point, I am sure it is a nightmare to organise!
Did you know that the Vegan Society also has an email vegan buddy system available? If you sign up to that and get assigned a buddy AND keep coming to meet vegans in person with this group then you will get a lot of support, and hopefully will make up a bit for not being in time for this event.

      1 · May 5, 2013

    • Calissa

Thanks Lesley. I didn't know about the buddy system so I'll look into it. I'll also attend as many of these meet-ups as possible. I'm on the pledge waiting list so there's a small chance I can still participate with the group. Thanks for the support!
