Celebrate Vegan Pizza Day

This event is free, you just pay for any food and drink consumed, but donations to Wateraid are welcomed, via a collection box on the day.

Interested? You're welcome to RSVP 'Yes' without commitment!
As with most of my events, feel free to drop in and out along the way.

At my suggestion, this year's Vegan Pizza Day has been confirmed for Saturday June 29th, so we're returning to Harrow to celebrate.

The Karma Free Pizza Company are opening up especially for us once again, so we can eat vegan pizza from noon (open until 10pm).

Last year I asked Smythie if he could write us a song; he made a complete video!

Around 2pm, we'll be walking/tubing to sample other veg*n delights in the area, including vegan cream cakes from Only Eggless, the only Vegetarian Society approved and Vegan Society registered cake shop.

Later, for those not attending Sara's Pomodoro E Basilico event, we've food, drinks and music at Star Lounge, with its 280 capacity.

Open from 5pm, for those wanting tea early, 'til 2am, for the revellers! The Vegan Tart and Only Eggless will be selling vegan cakes again.

Robb (idiotech) and MIRAI (Future Boy) are DJing again, along with Darren, who'd hurt his back last year, then had to leave us for a gig.

There's optional speed dating at 6pm (registration from 5pm), with 'Veg*n Singles Event - Take Free!' after last year's 100+ guest event.

VeggieVisionDating kindly put together a video of last year's event at Star Lounge.

Thanks Richard, it's a lot better now, but I literally could not walk on Saturday!

I twisted my ankle today while running so it looks like I won't be able to make it. A shame as I was looking forward to the star lounge, but have a great night!

Hope your ankle is on the mend, sorry you couldn't join us Peter.

Yes, we're all starting to amass here at Karma (387 Alexandra Avenue, 2 minutes walk south of Rayners Lane tube station), and as Saloni (co-owner of Karma) pointed out, we're sampling Canadian made Daiya :-) We've also Veganics and VBites Cheezly...

Happy Vegan Pizza Day!!! The Karma Free Pizza Company is open!!! Just to let you know...we have a small amount of Daiya Vegan cheese available for today....If you've heard about it and always wanted to try some...please come down today...it's only £3.50 per pizza on a first come first serve basis :-)

Just been checking the last trains, so thought I'd post them here for anyone who's interested...

The last Bakerloo line tube to central London leaves Harrow & Wealdstone at 23:54. Later trains only go as far as Queen's Park.
    http://bit.ly/INqyNo

Overground trains (to Euston) run later, with the last at 00:51.

Of course, the real party animals will be getting the night bus. ;-)

Cheers Robb; great! Saves me the trouble of doing a search! Also, I have a request... oh, hang are you taking requests re; music? Anyway, as I 'wasn't in the room' last time, when I'd brought a CD along, here's 'song request take 2'....though I don't have a copy of this maybe you have access to itunes, etcc? Might not be your taste in music either but I love this track by Will.i.am called Bang Bang *& the new version too, featuring Leah McFall* ; anychance you can play that? Here's a link; http://www.youtube.co... I have this on a loop at the moment...either version will do! :) Nighty Night! Jess :)

    • Jessica Stella F.

Hi Robb; I'm not coming Harrow now so no worries re; my song request! Anyway.... I might hear it where I'm going tomorrow! Hehe! Change of plan; going to have some fun & check out the Gay Pride Parade!! Have fun everyone in Harrow! I'm staying central I've decided! See some of you at Potluck & Brixton of course!! All the best, Jess :)

We are sorry that we can't attend this funtastic evening. We are having a Kenyan style bbq vegan pizza on Sunday so will be busy preping for that. But we will be thinking of you all. :-)

    June 28, 2013

  • Jo

sorry if this has been asked before but I've only just noticed this event. 12 is quite early for lunch...even for greedy people like me...are most people aiming to have moved onto the cake shop by 2 or will some people be hanging around at Karma after that time...leisurely 'continental-style' lunch?

    June 28, 2013

    • Richard Ⓥ M.

The whole thing is leisurely Jo, 2pm is just a best guess ;-) I'll endeavour to leave some maps at Karma for anyone wanting to catch us up, especially as I've found some more veg places to visit. As for noon, that's just when Shyam's kindly opening up for us again (normally 4pm).

      June 28, 2013

    • Richard Ⓥ M.

That said, I'll do my best to be there just after 12 but, with my kids in-tow, don't be too upset with me if I'm not the first one there!

      June 28, 2013

  • Richard Ⓥ M.

As guests to my previous multi-venue events will know, they're an informal way to make/meet link-minded friends. No seating is 'booked', simply join us when able (dependent on commitments, transport, interests, etc.), though venues SHOULD be aware there's a "Veg Meetup" 'in the area' (that link in the description maps our route). Chat whilst waiting 'first come, first served', gift your place to go exploring or swap venues, by yourself or with others, even get takeaway for the park or journey. A table of 30 Jains, and a booking of 18, are due to join us at Star Lounge, I know you'll make them feel welcome. Anyone fancying themselves as a DJ can bring their virtual decks, but you'll be up against 3 'pros' and we reserve the right to pull the plug!

    June 23, 2013

  • Laura

Hi Richard, is there a schedule of what is happening when? It sounds like a fabulous day with loads of great events :-)

    1 · June 20, 2013

    • Richard Ⓥ M.

Hi Laura, Karma is going to be open from noon 'til around 10pm (they normally open at 4pm), with Star opening at 5pm. I'd hoped to announce the 'middle' venue (roughly 2pm to 5pm) by now, but having originally confirmed they're now being vague, so am speaking with others. For the route and all the venues we'll (hopefully!) visit, click on 'in the area' above. Timing never runs to plan (an hour visit turns into two, etc.), so we're being 'flexible', but likely to leave Karma at 2pm and reach Star around 5pm, for those wanting to register for speed dating. My mobile is[masked], for on the day.

    • Sun

So how is this going to work with so many people going, such as at The Karma Free Pizza Company - are they quite large and able to accommodate so many. Is it first come first served, or will the food be staggered time wise etc (and also at the other places).

      June 22, 2013

  • Ana C.

This sounds great, but it is my sister´s wedding. I hope you have a lovely day, although that is for sure. :)

    June 18, 2013

    • Ana C.

Thank you Richard. I have seen it and the one that appears in my city (Segovia) has always been my favourite! But the problem is that nobody around me was vegan or vegetarian and they can´t even think in a meal without fish or meat, so as I was "the odd" I always had to go wherever they wanted to, and of course this time is the same. For years, even asking for a vegetarian menu in advance I had to ask several times to change the plates because they had fish on them!. Sorry, I think I am taking a bit of frustration out, and this is not the place. It has been very difficult for me to be first vegetarian and later vegan, although I started with my fight since I was a very little girl, so I think in a certain way I am used to it. Now that I found you it is so easy..., not only with the food and the places, but also because I feel I don´t have to defend myself so much, that we all understand the importance of not hurting or killing other beings... So thank you all. :)

Yes, sites like Meetup, Volentia, etc. really help when you're the only veg*n in the village ;-) Multiple venue events, like this, are also a great way to get to meet more people along the way.

VBites and Veganic are both kindly sending some goodies to go on our pizzas... we had waaay too many samples last year (even Shyam's gran's fridge was overflowing, as I recall), so are sticking to the companies that Karma currently use.

I've just spoken with Ramesh, at Star Lounge, and he's kindly letting us have upstairs too :-) Opening at 5pm (handy for anyone, like my kids, wanting tea early) and not closing 'til 2am (for the revellers!), and with a capcity of 280, it's a great venue, as we found out last year.

    June 4, 2013

  • Richard Ⓥ M.

We'll probably have a couple of sittings at Karma, which worked out well on my first outing there, before heading off on our veg 'crawl'. I'll be putting a map link up to show our (approximate) route shortly, once the other venues are confirmed, with (approximate) timing for those wanting to drop in/out, along with my mobile number for on the day :-)
