London Vegan Drinks Whole Foods Market

Kensington

Thursday July 18th, 2013

6pm-10pm

63-97 Kensington High Street

W8 5SE London

One of the biggest monthly social events on the planet finds a new home in one of most vegan-friendly stores in the country.

Welcome to London Vegan Drinks at Whole Foods Market Kensington.

London Vegan Drinks has grown since its inception in 2011 to become one of the most popular and loved vegan social events anywhere in the world. On the third Thursday of every month, more than 100 vegans and their friends gather to drink, eat and meet without meat.

Whole Foods Market is the perfect place for this event. An extensive range of vegan alcohol at reasonable prices and a piping hot oven churning out plant-based pizzas will keep revellers satisfied as they take in the night time lights of Kensington High Street from the gorgeous ‘Room With A View’. This exclusive space on the first floor is highly sought after and is the ideal place to mingle, refresh and enjoy.

How does London Vegan Drinks work?

You show up. You buy drinks. You buy food if you are hungry. You socialise. It is so simple, yet so effective. There is no cover charge and you are free to spend as much or as little money as you choose.

You can purchase food in any of the departments throughout Whole Foods Market as well as the award-winning vegan restaurant Saf. The upstairs Whole Foods bar is stocked with a wide range of vegan beers and wine that can be carried through to our gorgeous meeting room.

Where is the venue?

Whole Foods Market is housed in the historic Barker Building at 63-97 Kensington High Street, W8 5SE. The Room With A View is on the first floor, the same level as the bar, food court and restaurants. The function room is located at the front of the building, overlooking the High Street.

It is a three minute walk from High Street Kensington Underground station (turn right out of station). This Tube station is serviced by the Circle and District lines.

Walk to WFM

Buses travel from all over London and pass right by the front door of Whole Foods Market. Below is simple table showing the major bus routes and their destinations. Click here for a pdf of all the routes that pass through Kensington.

That’s all you need to know.

While the location of the Big Chill House was perfect for me, I thought Whole Foods did a great job. They seemed to actually care. Well done, FGV. :-)

It was two days ago, so I'm a little late but... I had the most amazing time on Thursday night!! My first meet up event, such a warm welcome from everyone I spoke to. Had some incredibly insightful and effortless conversations. Some goooood vegan pizza. Its incredible how a dietary choice can provide enough common ground to bring together so many like-minds under the single roof of the 'room with a view'! Being vegan means something different to us all, yet the love and commitment to the lifestyle choice creates a unity that I had no idea existed before that evening.

One tip: If you want an unorthodox way of starting conversation with strangers, wear massive orange feathers in your ears - I swear it works lol!!! Can't wait for the next one. Peace people xx

wow, so many new people, thanks to Sean for seeking out this venue

Great event, spacious (and agreeably cool, particularly temperature wise) venue, and the goodie bags were a nice touch, although the vinegary drink is clearly an acquired taste which I fear I will never acquire! Liked the aloe one tho. Thanks to Sean for organising and to Wholefoods for being great hosts! I still probably prefer Tibits as it is more vegan friendly but this was a good night.

It was so short... I would have stayed much longer and would have talked much more with people I could only speak to few minutes. But it took me almost one hour and a half to come back home! Thank you everybody because all the fear I had at first of going to a place with so many people I don´t know (things of being introverted) has gone almost completly (I don´t know how would it be without you ;), but now I have more confidence). I am so glad that destiny took me to London... for many reasons, but the main one this group. I am always looking forward to every meetup. By the way, the pizza was great! Thank you for all the organisation and thank you for your amazing company.

I thought this was one of the best vegan nights I have been to anywhere in the world. It was so enjoyable. Vegan drinks. Vegan food. An extremely accommodating venue. Lovely people. Gift bags. We had more than 140 people through during the event based on my calculations. Easily the biggest London Vegan Drinks ever! Thanks to everyone who came along. xx

Like the new venue. I am probably a bit odd because I liked the odd vinegar drink in the gift bag that everyone else seemed to find so offensive ; )

Yes, the room is on the same level as the food court. It is open plan and will be a very relaxed situation. People will be wandering about between the room, the pizza counter and the bar (all on the same level). Look out for London Vegan Drinks stickers!

Just a reminder about this group's rules about vegan food only at vegan events. You can of course buy anything you want in Whole Foods to eat during the event, but you need to respect this as a vegan meetup. Only vegan food and drink when you are with the group. You can ask me (or anyone else) which drinks are vegan or if you are unsure about food ingredients and I will be more than happy to help out.

The pizza counter will be serving vegan pizza, Saf will be open if you feel like popping in for a bite, we will have a list of vegan drinks (I have posted these here but will have a list tonight too) and there are so many vegan snacks and ready made meals in the store. They have sandwiches, cupcakes, chocolates, crisps, fruit and so much more.

There is even a microwave in the food court which is the same level as drinks. You could buy a vegan frozen meal like the mac and cheese with Daiya, cook it, eat it and then rejoin drinks!

This is a vegan event for everybody! Long time vegans, new vegans, future vegans and omnis are all equally welcome. Let's keep it a safe, welcoming and respectful event.

      xx

Chucked out at 10pm. But this creates room for someone to create a LVD afterparty! Jess? Robb? So many great late bars on that strip.
