First Ever London Vegan Meetup Poetry Corner

  • Jul 22, 2013 · 6:30 PM

Be there at the beginning! Next Monday will see the first ever London Vegan Meetup Poetry Corner.

If this 'pilot' meeting goes well the aim is that we'll meet regularly once a month to share our love of poetry.

Everyone attending will have an opportunity to share one of their favourite poems, this can be classic, modern, postmodern, children's poetry, limericks - anything really!

It's also an opportunity for vegan writers to perform their own poetry.

Hope to see you there.
thanks,
Helen.

Hi, I'm not really a poetry fan but have just watched Sarah Kay's TED talk which is amazing - link http://www.ted.com/playlists/77/new_to_ted.html if anyone would like to watch it is talk 3 in this list.

I am sorry I could not make it. I finished work after 7pm, and in this heat and with the prospect of getting very early next day...hopefully, this event will be repeated some other day?

Yes - we're planning on doing this monthly. Keep a look out for next date to be published in a week or two.

Thank you everybody because thanks to yesterday I will start reading poetry. I didn´t do it since high school, because I always preferred to read other things and because I always found music and their letters a kind of poetry, and music has a lot of power in me. Yesterday I learnt that poetry can be very different from the one I studied in high school (medieval and modern poetry, that I found quite forced). Next time I hope I will be able to be more participative. Yesterday I was not in my best (physically and emotionally) and I felt a bit overwhelmed for the weather, the huge heat in the public transport, and a bit lost too. But I am glad that at the end I decided to go because it is always good to learn things and because it is always a pleasure to be with you. :)
