Low Budget Accommodation
We will provide several large tents that will be set up at the Camping Gaalgebierg in Esch, from Wednesday (10th) until Sunday (14th). The cost per night will be 5 EUR and includes the sleeping place in a tent that we provide. There will be several people sleeping in one tent. The cost also includes using the sanitary facilities at the camp ground. You will need to bring a sleeping bag and a camping mat. Please note that it might get quite cold in September in Luxembourg, so be sure to bring a warm sleeping bag. You can also bring your own tent and set it up near the large tents. Also the camp site offers rental caravans, but they need to be booked long time in advance.
The Camping Gaalgebierg is 2,4km away from the Kufa by foot and 1,6km from the Esch train station. There are no regular busses going to the camp ground, but Esch offers the special Flexibus transport which costs 40 Cents per ride. The Flexibus drives in Esch and needs to be called up 30 minutes before travelling and the tickets are available at the conference registration.
If you would like to stay at the camp ground in one of the tents we provide, please let us know by email which nights you would like to sleep there, since we need to plan the number of tents we need to set up.
There are several hotels located in Esch. When searching via the web you might also need to provide the full name "Esch-sur-Alzette". At you can find some of these hotels and book your stay online.

Hi, I'll be taking the Eurostar (via Brussels) departing[masked]:04 (from St. Pancras Intl.) if somebody cares for a travel-buddy. There is a connecting IC-train via Arlon (BE) to Luxembourg (and a short train ride from Luxembourg to Esch).

Hi Oscar, Shame we didn't think to talk about this on Sunday when we were leafleting together! I waited for weeks to get any response about shared journeys before Ranjan said he was going by easyjet for cheapest option (£50 return), so have booked myself, but a day earlier then him. Would have much preferred Eurostar, and have no hold luggage to bring a sleep mat in as that's £26 extra :( Arriving Luxembourg airport Weds 16.15 and departing Monday 15th at 16.45. Look out for me :)

Well, nothing to be done about it now. But I'm sure we'll find some time to have a chat in Luxembourg. :)

That's fantastic news about the recordings Ranjan, and thanks for the link to last years. As you know I'm flying out on Weds and back on Monday, and camping in the communal tents, so will look out for you there. I won't have my phone switched on as don't want the hassle of trying to charge it up etc. Here's to a fabulous conference <3

I'll be staying in a caravan at the camping site. My phone number is :[masked] (Hopefully it should work :) ) See you all in Luxembourg!

I totally agree Rafael, at the least can a few people record parts to share on social media? I'm a bit of a luddite and won't even have a phone with me!

Ruth, last time when I spoken to Ranjan he was thinking about buying plane tickets because there were not enough people. Plane ticket was only about £50 last year so hopefully if you book now it will still be in good price

Hi Beata, Thanks so much, I went ahead and booked a plane ticket. Departing Wednesday 10th Sept from Gatwick and returning Monday 15th. However I couldn't afford the hold luggage so won't be able to take sleeping bag with me..... hoping one might manifest somehow :)

I'm sorry I won't be able to go to Luxemburg in September. Please communicate with Ranjan who will be the event host.

Can others going from UK please co-ordinate so that we may travel together please? It will be much more fun and probably cheaper too )

Oosel, we will wait until May/June to see how many people would like to come. If there are quite few of us it may be worth to hire a van and drive there.

  • Beata

Great response this year :) only few hours and we already have 5 people interested in. It looks like there will be a big representation from UK. Excellent!
