London Vegan Potluck

Hosted by Fat Gay Vegan :) , come one, come all to London Vegan Potluck, the friendliest food event in London! On the 1st Wednesday of each month, vegans and vegan-friendlies gather in celebration of fabulous food in a very cool location, swaping recipes & making like minded friends! :) THIS MONTH CELEBRATING 3 YEARS OF POTLUCK! :)

You'll find us in the basement of Faraday House, that can accommodate 100+ potluckers (part of the Syracuse University; just a few minutes walk from Holborn Tube & plenty of Bus routes!! See map link above :) ) where we regularly enjoy a feast of Homemade Vegan Food!

For the sake of clarity, that's NO Meat, Fish, Dairy, Eggs & Honey!

Anything NOT Homemade wont be accepted I'm afraid & NOT bringing a dish is also unacceptable & you will be turned away! (So, 2 adults/teenagers can't attend with just one dish; only very young children, who don't eat as much as us adults, don't require a 2nd dish from their parents/guardians.)

Don't worry about your level of cooking skills; houmous and dips are perfectly acceptable, as are loaves of bread; raw Vegan cheesecakes; pasta, quinoa or potato salads; pizza; cupcakes, tarts, pies, etc, etc!!

As long as its Vegan, we'll eat it!

*Sean provides one plate & fork per person, so all you need to do now is RSVP, so we can keep track of numbers of plates/cutlery needed! :) You can also RSVP on the Facebook; see Events section at Sean's Facebook page and invite non-Meetup friends. (Just add them here as your plus 1/2, etc! :) )

*Your dish can be Savoury or Sweet, with any drinks you may bring being in addition to your homemade dish. :) {{Please make sure any alcohol you bring is vegan. Barnivore is a good resource for checking vegan alcohol. In addition, Sainsbury’s, The Cooperative and Marks & Spencers supermarkets advise on the label whether their alcohol is suitable for vegans. Bring cups for serving if you bring drinks!}}

*Please Provide an ingredients list, (( this is a helpful resource if you are unfamiliar with hidden animal ingredients in food)) ; a serving dish or plate & a serving utensil if required for your dish; do tidy up after yourself as best you can, so it means less clearing up for Sean & Co at the end, cheers; enjoy all of this for just £1!

You sign in at the reception when you enter, & there are signs, & security staff, that'll point you in the right direction! (Sometimes we're not in the basement as usual, but again, there'll be signs & security help, as & when we're based elsewhere in the building!)

We set up/put dishes down, from about 6pm, Sean makes announcements then lets everyone loose at about 6.15 or 6.20, to start filling their plates/eating! :) It's advisable to arrive early to get your plate down/fill your plate, but if you arrive later, no worries, but we do have to be out just before or bang on 8pm.

This is a special Potluck as it Marks exactly 3 years since Sean started it, back in Brixton, at Ms Cupcake! :)

So, to help us celebrate, some of our friends are donating food to eat and prizes to give away in a raffle on the night!

Ms Cupcake will be donating a pile of brownies for the potluck table as well as a £10 gift voucher for the raffle

Vegusto are supplying us with their amazing vegan cheeses for both the potluck table and raffle

- Moo Free Chocolates are handing over some samples for the tables and raffle prize

Veganicity are experts in vegan supplements and they are sending some along as prizes

Mr Prempy's are coming along to talk to us about their raw cakes as well as hand out samples and supply a prize

- More sponsors to be announced--more details soon! :)

If it's your first Potluck or first Meet Up, don't be nervous; everyone is very friendly, so let people know you're new and get talking about the dish you made, etc! Do come and find me; check out my photo on my profile, (I have long aurburn hair, I wear black rimmed glasses and tend to wear purple/black, etc), or by the plates trolly, ask Sean, Josh or Kip where I am. I'll be happy to introduce you to my friends and later, if you are up for the pub, do follow us to The Citie of Yorke (High Holborn, a minute walk from Chancery Lane Tube, near Grays Inn Road,) for drinking and socializing till 11pm-ish! :)

See you soon at London Vegan Potluck!

All the best,

Jess :)

Unfortunately I don't currently have access to cookware, kitchen tools, appliances or containers needed to prepare/transport a sharable dish, (living in a dorm right now). But I'm glad there's no tube strike to hinder the Potluck Anniversary!!! Have fun :)

Hello Potluckers! News Just in...I've just happened to read there's a planned Tube Strike, starting Monday, for 3 days, with day 3 being Potluck indeed, so bus/Bris Bike or Walk it if you can! All the best, Jess! :)

Tube strikes never affected anyone before the tubes were invented, people walked for hundreds of miles, and they still dont affect the likes of the: environmentalists, self-sufficient-eers, anarchists, preppers, keep-fitters etc, as most of them have an alternative mode of transport to that of a car/ train or a bus, like skate or a bike.

And Bris Bike sounds better, BoJo the mayor should not ever be associated with bikes, he is directly or indirectly responsible for the injuries and deaths of many cyclists with his moronic traffic signals and cycle lanes. e.g. Venera Minakhmetova, the 24-year-old Russian lady did not die because she jumped the stupidly setup traffic lights, she died because she obeyed them, but they wont admit to that, just blame it on the cyclists.

Jess, there's quite a lot for people to read here so I think the comment YOU MUST BRING HOMEMADE FOOD IF YOU WISH TO TAKE PART. ONE DISH PER PERSON IS A REQUIREMENT should be stated at the top of the info rather than right near the bottom, as last time some people got turned away for not bringing home made food!

Hi Brian; thanks, I just left it more or less like Sean had written it & hadn't got round to changing it much, but yeah, I'll give it a face-lift soonish! :))

Hi Beata I recall one member Mia coming to the potluck with her baby. When Sean spoke before the potluck started ( as he normally does welcoming everyone etc) he mentioned that it was nice seeing a little person at the potluck so i think it would be okay.

I would love to come one day but unfortunately it's too early for me unless I come with my almost 4 year old :)

As far as I recall, I think, yes, children are welcome-- I'm certain, actually, as I am friendly with a family who turned up one month & they had their young daughter with them so it should be fine! I can double check or you can email Sean (Fat Gay Vegan) via his Website/Facebook/Twitter or his events page at Meet up :) Maybe see you there!! :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
