The usual timings of the day; *with Seasonal variations!*

[masked]pm; We gather outside Brixton Tube Station

[masked]pm*; walk to Brixton Station Road for Vegan Tart, Saba's, Trina's, Scoff, Taza Falafal, etc! ((Some of us may wonder off to the Jamaican place, but we'll come back to the market where there's some seating near Saba's stall, or plenty of standing room!! :) ))

About 2-3pm*; wondering along to Ms Cupcake, via anywhere people fancy enroute!
((We generally go down to the end of the market, past the Recreation Centre Stairs, turn right, past more stalls until we reach the main road, turning left; that's Atlantic Road, which curves round to join Coldharbour Lane, where we see the Dog Star to our right. Our route may also take in the indoors markets of ''Brixton Village,'' (side entrance just before exiting the outdoor market) where The Oracle Organic Juice Bar is at 6th Avenue, and ''Market Row,'' which leads us to Ms Cupcake!))

3pm onwards*  ;
Raining/cold? Off to The Dog Star {{who can do Vegan pizza with V Bites Cheezly Mozzarella & V Bites Deli Toppings including Vegan Chorizo! :) }}
Sun shining? Brockwell Park till late, & choice of pubs later, i.e. back to Coldharbor Lane for Dog Star/Prince Albert/Market House OR up to Tulse Hill for the lovely Railway Tavern!

Other recommended pub *cheers Sarah Jane :) * ; the lovely retro/kitsch Effra Social, only a short 10 minute walk up Effra Road! Or next door, there's The Hootenany!

>Trina's Delicacies, (Vegetarian & Vegan), delicate fluffy yummy Vegan brownies & cupcakes; she often has free samples to try too...well worth a try :) ((Located near Saba's/Vegan Tart)) Web link> Trina's Delicacies

>Taza falafal (Vegan) *to the right, by the Recreation Centre Staircase*; Yummy, fresh falafal wrap-- well worth getting the large one! ** Note; This stall hasn't been open for months & months; I've no idea if/when it'll be open again!!??**

Scoff! New to Brixton Station Road is the lovely Jane & her decadent truffle & fudge delights! I think pictures say a 1000 words.... *photos care of Sean's review here >> * * :) >> You'll find her down the far end, after the Recreation Centre..... :)

Dark chocolate & Amaretto truffles

And... (what, there's more? Oh yes...) .... There's another new stall nearby Scoff, by a dairy free lady who sells, mostly Vegan, cheap boiled sweets & iced coconut; check her out for all your boiled sweet & icing needs!

And Local shopping;

Holland & Barratt (Brixton Road)

Brixton Wholefoods (Atlantic Road)

After enjoying some Vegan delights,!

The Dog Star

A spacious cosy place, we regularly take over the back space by the Dog picture! They serve several Vegan friendly Beers & cider; and now they can do Vegan Pizza, with V Bites Cheezly & Deli toppings, including Vegan chorizo, made by their Sicillian chef, they've gone down a treat in recent months! :)

Other local pubs we've been to are minutes/seconds away from The Dog Star & Ms Cupcake; The Market House and The Prince Albert.

OR *weather permitting!*

Brockwell Park *In case of chilly or rainy weather, nearby pubs to Brockwell are Effra Social & Hootenanny, on Effra Road; Brixton Water Lane to the right of Hootenanny leads directly to the park! :) *

At 3ish, if you fancy a trip to Brockwell Park, I'll head off with a little group for a few hours, & maybe meet whoever's still in the pub later on! I rather like the Walled Garden :) (Brockwell Park - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia>>

And later....if you fancy a trip North of the River, there's Vegans Invade Soho; the regular Post Walkabout night out!

We'll meet people at 7pm(ish) under the Freddy Mercury Statue (Dominion Theatre, Tottenham Court Road) & go from there! Or meet us in The Coach & Horses around 8.30 or later, we may be in Tibits around 9/9.30 till late! We'll see! :)

So, after the success of a year+ of past trips, I look forward to more trips!!

All the best, Bye for now, Jess :)

    Sad news Vegan Tart fans!! After leaving Brixton a few months ago, to focus on their cafe orders & personal orders, sadly, they've now announced they're going to cease trading as The Vegan Tart, & are moving on to pastures new & new adventures!! :( So if you can make it, pop by London Vegan Festival next Sunday 17tth for the last hurrah! All the best, Jess :)

    Hi Walkabouters! Wow, 44 RSVP's!! This is going to be a busy day!! Don't let the chance of showers put you off! Bring a brolly/waterproofs/wellies! :P We can take shelter, if it's really bad, in the covered seating area near Sabas, etc, or upstairs near the recreation centre...little concrete garden area, up that flight of stairs down the end.... we'll see how the showers are tomorrow! It says showers but it might not be that bad! :) So, we'll be in The Dog Star for 3ish, but, if it's stopped raining, might think of heading to Brockwell park! We'll see! :) See you all soon! Jess :)

    We are going to have to talk about your event names... ;-)

    Hi Walkabouters!
    I've just read that this will actually be the LAST Brixton Walkabout that The Vegan Tart will be at! I actually feel a bit sad; it all started with the Tarts! But, no, it's not sad at all; the boys will be doing festivals & their tarts/cakes are available in several places, namely Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium & Lazy Rhubard in Tulse Hill-- but this is the end of 'an era' so to speak!! This'll be a very special Walkabout! So, Tart' fans, this is the last time we'll see the boys in Brixton Station Road!! See you there!! :) Jess :) x

    Hi Walkabouters! This Walkabout marks the 21st trip South of the River!! And this is the last one The Vegan Tart are doing for now; they're taking a short break! I'll keep you posted as to when they'll be back! So if you want to check out The Vegan Tart in their Brixton home, join us this Saturday!! :) See you soon! Jess :)
