Epping Forest Walk and Raw Vegan Picnic

Epping Forest Vegan Walk & Raw Vegan Picnic
Let’s get outdoors, escape pollution and urbanization and explore London's famous and ancient forest and beautiful glades. Join us as we walk through the interior of magnificent Epping Forest, a beautiful wilderness stretching from the outskirts of London deep into rural Essex. We are breaking for a picnic lunch of RAW wholesome food. Spanning two-and-a-half thousand hectares, the forest has attracted national heroes such as Lawrence of Arabia, who once lived by its edge, as well as royalty who came to what was formerly a royal hunting ground as well as notorious highwaymen such as Dick Turpin. Luckily we won't encounter any highwaymen. However, we will see beautiful forest land, meadows, ponds, rivers, streams, bogs, maybe energy points, possibly deer and some rare birds as well as some breath-taking scenery.

We will meet at Loughton Underground Station at 10:45am which is on the Central Line and is easy to get to. Please note a Sunday service is in operation so it is slightly more intermittent than weekdays. There is a station car park available as well if you are travelling by car to the meet up point. Loughton station is a few minutes’ walk to the Forest outskirts. We plan to leave for the forest at 11am.
We will stop for a vegan raw food picnic lunch and a social sit down and then do a further exploration whilst heading on back in a circular fashion.

Anyone is welcome provided they stick to the vegan raw food criteria. Please bring only raw vegan food to consume and share with others (preferably organic produce if possible).

Hopefully it will be good weather but please check before hand and bring the necessaries with you if need be (umbrella, waterproofs etc).
Level: easy to medium
Things to bring: 1. Waterproof clothing/umbrella (just in case it is set to rain - check the weather beforehand. If it’s a beautiful day then and clear weather forecast then no need).
2. Hiking boots or good comfortable walking shoes.
3. Definitely bring water - probably a litre.
4. Raw Vegan food to share 5. Camera - if you would like to take some pictures.

Hi guys. Just a note about the weather. I have checked this and the forecast for the afternoon is very similar to today's. Weather. There will be shower but I think as we will be in the interior we will be protected by the forests foliage. It showered today and as I was well under cover of heavy foliage , I didn't get wet. But I will still bring a waterproof just in case.

Where is the picnic itself taking place, and at what time? My guest isn't up to brisk hiking, but if you know where in the forest the picnic is going to be we could make our own way and meet you there...

    July 12, 2014

    • Sheldon P

Anthony, I cannot guarantee a time when we are going to picnic and the site may change according to conditions.

Thinking about driving to this, anyone want a lift? Space for 3 people. I'll be heading off from paddington, happy to pick up anywhere along the way.

    June 24, 2014

    • Clare

Yeah, I'd like a lift, please.

      June 30, 2014

    • Maria

Last chance for a lift! Will be passing through Paddington, Baker Street, Camden, Holloway, then on to Loughton. Bring some tunes, we can have an early Sunday rave in the car, get the sun out! Not asking for petrol money, just want to fill the car. Message me if interested.

i will be driving, can i i meet u at the forest. where would we meet. is my dog ok to come

    July 4, 2014

    • Sheldon P

Hi Joanne. Your dog is very welcome to come. I am bringing my dog, Marley although I am keeping him on a lead because there are horses, dear, rabbits, birds, squirrels etc in the forest which Marley just loves chasing for miles and miles - hence I have to keep him on a long lead. Regarding meeting us in the forest, it is a very bad idea as you may never find us. Your best bet and my sound advice is to go to Loughton station and park in the station car park which is a big car park and I think costs either £1.50 or £2 on a Sunday for the whole day. Its what I intend to do and its where we will end up on the return.
