Welcome to The Vegan Publuck--a New Weekend Potluck! :)

The Old China Hand, on the corner of Tysoe Street & Rosebery Avenue, Islington, have kindly agreed to be the new home of Publuck! All their drinks are sourced from family run or independent breweries/microbreweries & companies; most are British, with an international bottle selection!

Every 3rd Sunday of the month, from 2pm till late, join me & lots of lovely, friendly London Vegans, for a chilled, relaxed Sunday afternoon, of Homemade Vegan food & whatever drinks take your fancy!

Old China Hand is also a Ping Pong pub, with two tables--one will be put away for us to set up our food tables, etc, downstairs, whilst the other Ping Pong table is upstairs; if you fancy a game, if that table is available, it's £1 per bat hire, plus a £5 refundable deposit!

Here's to good food & good times!!

(This'll be our space at the back, under a lovely skylight, minus the Ping Pong table! :) )

You can arrive anytime from 2pm; I will make an announcement at 2.30pm, welcoming everyone, then I'll distribute plates & forks & let everyone start eating!

There's plenty of time to put your dish down, eat & hang out!

We may well clear away as we go, or be cleared away much earlier, but I'll start a final clear away at 5.30pm, to be completely clear for 6pm; if you're free, we may hang out till late & enjoy a few more drinks OR go for a walk (weather permitting, there are some lovely local parks, etc!) :)

Entry is Free, you just pay for your drinks, so no need to bring cartons or bottles of drink as an additional contribution. :)

The details; Anyone who knows how Sean's fantastic well established Wednesday potluck works, will know it's pretty simple; bring a dish, share recipes & meet lots of lovely people!

*Please bring a Vegan homemade dish (one per adult) ; for the sake of clarity, :) , that means, of course, NO Meat, Fish, Dairy, Eggs or Honey! If you don't bring a dish, I'm afraid you wont be welcome to share our food. Of course, you can buy yourself a drink if you like!

*If you really can't bring a homemade dish, or can't cook, you could bring something shop bought, but it should be a reasonable contribution--a bunch of bananas or a punnet of grapes is a little small!! :)

*As a rough rule of thumb, think about catering for 10-30 people, so e.g. 2 dozen made/bought cupcakes, OR 2 large pizzas, OR a big cous cous salad, etc... :)

*The pub can comfortably accommodate about 50+ people, plus seating at the bar, & in nice weather, there's seating outside too!

*The pub is not normally child friendly, but one or two well behaved kids may be ok, but no babies (please email me if you have kids & would like to attend; cheers :) )

*Please provide an ingredients list, & indicate if it's Nut free or Gluten free for those with allergies or intolerances

*Please bring a serving utensil if needed for your dish

I will be providing disposable plates & cutlery, plus serviettes; please keep things as tidy as possible, it'll make clearing away that much easier for me; cheers!

There are plenty of Vegan beers/ales/ciders, on tap/in Bottles, plus Spirits!

Vegan drinks guide; *Please note; not all of these listed may be available, as they i.e. change their Keg's quite regularly; a printed list will be on display on the day! :)*

Hi Publuckers! :) As most of us will be at the Vegan Festival in Kensington, I've moved the next Publuck to the 4th Sunday! If you can make it, see you on the 24th August! :) All the best, Jess :)

      good point Jessica!

you mean, to make it pretty warm as oppose to pretty cool?

of course, collective body heat from the increased numbers will help to do this during winter months ;-)

I'm sorry but I won't be able to go. Maybe I'll pop in to say hello at 5.00 or 6.00, just maybe, so I've changed my RSVP to "no".

Aww, no worries - yes do pop by if you can! They'll have an extensive vegan drinks list, so we'll probably be all stuffed & cleared away by then & enjoying a natter -- if anyone's still around!! Unpredictable how things go/numbers, etc!! :) All the best!! :)

Hello Publuckers! Here's some music to get the party started! Do feel free to add any music you'd like to share (strictly no Bieber, & such like! :P )
Here's the rather mad yet brilliant Matt Berry, *Theme from 'Snuff Box' a bizare, quirky BBC3 sketch show from 2004!* Enjoy! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...
