Book Club @ Tibits

  • August 12, 2014 · 6:30 PM

Welcome to Book Club at Tibits.

We plan to meet regularly on the second Tuesday of the month. Everyone is welcome, just bring yourself, a suggestion for the next book and a desire to eat some yummy food. If you've actually read this month's book, even better!

Each month we vote for a book to read for the meeting in two months time - this hopefully gives everyone enough time to acquire and read the book.

The book for August is "The Celestine Prophecy: An Adventure" by James Redfield:

The book for September is "The World Peace Diet" by Dr. Will Tuttle:

Please note that September's book is somewhat expensive / hard to get (the cheap copies come from the U.S.). There is a Kindle version available. Hopefully it will be available from libraries too.

It was a great, interesting night, with a bit of heated debate! Enjoyable & intriguing! I'll try & make another one sometime! All the best, Jess :)

Hi Everyone! I forgot to mention this earlier -- someone left a Grey and light off yellow (the trim/stripe; it was mostly light grey) Umbrella under the seat at the end nearest the door where I was sitting for a time -- I'm thinking it might be Karen's brolly or someone who was sitting nearby/next to Helen/Nicky, etc!! It's in lost property at Tibits! Pop down & get it whenever you can! :) All the best, Jess :)

This will be my first outing with Vegan Meetup. I look forward to some good vegan food tonight. I don't read fiction, but I may try and get next month's from the library, as it sounds like non-fiction.

What time is Tibits open until? I won't be able to come along until later. Hopefully some of you will still be there to talk about The Celestine Prophecy. Thanks, Shabari

It's mostly open till midnight, but they do flick on the lights downstairs sometimes 11/11:30ish; I think they definitely stop serving at 11, as memory serves!! If no one else is around, I'll be there!! :) I've read this book before, about 20 years ago & I made a start re-reading it last night too so I'll be more than happy to chat about it! :) All the best! Jess :)

Hi Everyone, as I mentioned at July's meetup I can't come in August as will be presenting at One World Camp. Hope to be with you in September when its my proposed book "World Peace Diet" by Dr. Will Tuttle. Truly the greatest book I have ever read : the most insightful, uplifting and beautiful exposition of the situation crippling our planet, and the vegan solution to nearly all our man made ills. This book should be mandatory reading for all humans, and be in every school, home and library worldwide. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!!! <3
