Volunteer Work Weekend and Solstice Night at F.R.I.E.N.D.

Hey London Animal loving Vegans!

I am organising a volunteer work WEEKEND at F.R.I.E.N.D. from this Saturday to Sunday 5pm with an overnight stay to celebrate solstice with a bonfire in the evening (and perhaps a visit to a stone circle) after we have done the work on the Saturday!!!! I am exited!!

To those who haven't been at F.R.I.E.N.D. before, this is a vegan run Animal Rescue Sanctuary which provides a permanent home to around 150 abused, unwanted and orphaned farmed animals, so they can live peacefully for the rest of their lives. As well as farmed animals, this place is also providing shelter to many other animals including cats and dogs and other "pet" animals. F.R.I.E.N.D. Animal Rescue Sanctuary is run by Marion and Marc who solely rely on the support of donations and volunteers and do not receive any public funding. However, they put in all their efforts to make sure that the animals are well looked after and cared but really need the support of volunteers and donations.

Despite the work being a proper work out, these visits are a chance to actually interact with many animals that have been rescued from the farmed animal industry and meet like-minded people. The work we are usually doing at F.R.I.E.N.D. includes feeding, mucking out and/or doing sanctuary maintenance work. Depending on what Marion and Mark need us to to.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:

Wellies (!)
a change of trousers/top
Work gloves (!)
Sleeping bag
(Maybe a tent - depending on the number of people / preferences)

Vegan potluck or your own snacks - we can discuss this further in the comments below what to bring..

GETTING THERE:

Unless you're driving down with your own car (if you can offer lifts that would be great) we meet on Saturday at Charing Cross station at 9.15 am by the ticket office.

After checking the train fares I came to realise that the group save conditions have changed and if we are more than 3 people we only pay 34% less (instead of the 50% all this time before) which works out to be £16.50 per person.
(If you are a student you might get it cheaper so worth to check that out for yourself beforehand!)

Please arrive promptly and bring the fare in cash so I can collect it and get the groups save tickets for everyone. THANKS! :)

We will be picked up and brought back to the station in groups therefore it is important to arrive at Paddock Wood Station together / at the same time – unless you don't need a lift / have your own car / bike / moped.

Where in London do you live? I'm sure we can make it work. I don't think I'm going to do the sleepover thing though, not sure x
