Book Club @ Tibits

  • September 9 · 6:30 PM

Welcome to Book Club at Tibits.

We plan to meet regularly on the second Tuesday of the month. Everyone is welcome, just bring yourself, a suggestion for the next book and a desire to eat some yummy food. If you've actually read this month's book, even better!

Each month we vote for a book to read for the meeting in two months time - this hopefully gives everyone enough time to acquire and read the book.

The book for September is "The World Peace Diet" by Dr. Will Tuttle:

There is a PDF version available here.

The book for October is "The Last Tiger" by Tony Black:

Please note that September's book is somewhat expensive / hard to get (the cheap copies come from the U.S.). There is a cheaper Kindle version available, and a free PDF version here. Hopefully it will be available from libraries too.

Having got my recommendation for Nov's book accepted last night (Three Men on the Bummel), I go to put it in my diary and see that I won't be able to attend as it's the dress rehearsal for a show I'm in http://www.questors.org.uk/even...

Sorry if it's bad book-club form to do this. On the upside, it's still a great book and tickets are available for all performances of The Mikado Wed to Sat.

Hello I've never been to any vegan meetup before. Can I come to September's book club??

      Hi Gowoon,
Apologies for not responding sooner, seems I had turned off comment notification for my own events!
Anyway, for future reference, then you will be very welcome to come.

Hi Jon thanks for replying. I can't come today cause I haven't read the book... But I will try to come next month. Thanks!

I've decided not to come Jon. This is because I picked up the book last night and found that I don't want to read it, as I can't cope with graphic descriptions of animal cruelty and such like being discussed at the group. It's just too upsetting for me. I have thrown the book away. I know it's a good thing these writers are doing, but I'm too sensitive for it, it just makes me depressed. I do my bit.

      Hi Karen,
I'm sorry to hear that but I understand. While I have no idea what views people will express, I suspect the conversation over dinner will likely avoid those graphic descriptions.
