Book Club @ Tibits

  • November 13, 2012 · 6:30 PM

Welcome to Book Club 2012 at Tibits.

We do meet regularly on the second Tuesday of the month. Everyone is welcome, just bring yourself, a suggestion for the next book and a desire to eat some yummy food. If you've actually read this month's book, even better!

The book for this meeting is "Moondust: In Search of the Men Who Fell to Earth" by Andrew Smith:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1408802384

https://www.greenmetropolis.com/book.aspx?isbn=9780747563693

The book for next month's meeting is "Blade Runner" by Philip K. Dick:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1857988124

https://www.greenmetropolis.com/book.aspx?isbn=9781857988123

I recommend GreenMetropolis for second hand books, as all proceeds go either to the seller or charity.

Ah, seems just because I knew the origins of Blade Runner, not everyone else does. Funny that. The original book by Philip K. Dick is "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" which then became the film "Blade Runner" causing the book to be reprinted with that name. They are the same book, so either will do. Actually extra stickers for those with the original! Sorry for the confusion. I've updated the next months text to hopefully be more clear.

Further to Beverley's comment, I have today been unable to find in the West End any book called "Blade Runner". Another later book called " Do androids etc" is widely available and the film was based on this book,I gather.

Hi, my library only had the book listed with it's other title of 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep' and not Blade Runner, incase anyone else is having problems finding it too.

Hi Emma, sorry you couldn't find us. Regent Street was a bit crazy busy last night as there was a concert and the xmas lights were being turned on. Heddon Street actually has two entrances off Regent Street - it is tucked away. Just up from Vigo St, I think. The book for next month is mentioned above - it's Bladerunner by Philip K Dick, and the next meeting is 11th December. Hope to see you there.

Absolutely gutted I can't make this - broken ankle and therefore stranded in Maidenhead. I don't suppose I could join by conference call for some of it? (i.e. could someone text me when you're about to talk through suggestions for the next book and I'll call back) H xx

Hi Emma, it's not compulsory to have read the book. We don't actually spend a huge amount of time talking about the book. And voting for the next one is the most fun.
