Beata thanks for uploading the pictures so quickly
Thanks Beata, they are wonderful pictures. Not sure if its possible to upload some to this site, I need to ask someone more technical! xx
0 · November 27, 2012
Hi Mia, it's possible to upload pictures here to however Richard told me that data storage also contributes to the climat change therefore instead of uploading 60 pictures to 13 different meet ups groups I decided to upload it to a website and post only a link to all meet up groups :) good for everyone because pictures are available and good for environemnt because they do not have to be stored multiple time :)
Thanks Beata, you're quite right (computing use accounts for more CO2e than airline travel, and is set to double within the decade, due in no small part to uploads and email attachments). As I've posted the link across all the groups, everyone has access to them. A future alternative would be to upload them to the group with the most RSVPs, and post a link to them on other groups (assuming privacy settings don't mean you have to be a member to view them).
Wow you learn something new everyday! Well I definitely do not want to contribute to any more destruction! Thank you for uploading them, they're wonderful. Xx

Here's the recipe for the banana cake, glad people liked it http://www.food.com/recipe/vega... (350°F is 175°C)
Richard my goodness your banana cake was popular
1 · November 27, 2012
Thanks, but all credit goes to Napak, as she was the one that recommended the recipe and made sure I didn't screw up... it wasn't something I'd made before! My only mistake was that I doubled up the ingredients, to make a bigger cake, and forgot that it would take longer to bake, hence my late arrival LOL
Can you thank Napak then Richard.I don't like Bananas in any form so i didn't have any but it disappeared very quickly and everyone was saying how wonderful it was
so it clearly was fab
Consider her thanked ;-)
Yes it was lovely! Thank you both of you! Xx

a great event - amd we were so lucky with the weather
Lovely afternoon. Yummy food, dolphin healing and free books. Thank you. : )
Hey was thinking of stopping by, when is the best time?
Banana cake just about to come out of the oven, fingers crossed!
one dish done another on the way - leaving in about 45 min - can't wait to meet every!one - must remember tea and labels!
Hi Jess. I was thinking of putting the food out around midday or when most people get there. Hopefully that'll work out alright! See you later. Xx
Hello; it all sounds lovely & there should be plenty of tea I gather! :) I was just wondering, (& I should've got round to posting this earlier) but when does the Potluck start or will it just be food, & more, everywhere, all day, type thing? (e.g. don't want to miss the Pudology puds!! :-D ) Cheers, Jess :)
I am so sorry to back out last minute ... family emergency :( Will definitely come to another event soon! x
0 · November 24, 2012
I can probably pick up a couple of boxes of tea - can anyone else?
1 · November 24, 2012
You're an angel! Thank you. I'm bringing some tea too and we've got a hot water urn. xx
Hi Katherine, yes i can bring some tea so will do so.
I'll try to bring a box of Yogi Choco.
I'll bring some soya milk and sugar if that helps.
2 · November 24, 2012
I think it is going to be raining tomorrow Mia so if we had to foragein the park it would be a very wet forage ha ha but as you,Richard Katherine and me will be bringing tea i think we should be fine fortea
I have every faith we'll have enough to drink. If not maybe we could forage in the park across the road for some nettles, make nettle tea! Xx
Hi everyone. Sadly although Yogi tea had agreed to donate some boxes of tea, it hasn't arrived! What to do for drinks.... Any idea's? Xx
naughty yogi i'll bring some tea
Likewise, on chasing them up, Vegusto say they didn't receive my email with the address to send the samples to (due to arrive yesterday by courier) so nothing was sent :-(
That's a shame Richard, glad Pudology delivered to Mia okay
So annoying, as I was going to try making a paneer style curry. Vegusto staff and I will be attending the Young Indian Veg*ns' 32nd annual Christmas lunch in December and I wanted to try veganising the only non-vegan dish they serve. http://www.youngindia...
Does anyone have a nice camera or a smart phone and would be happy to take photos ( (i have neither).?Some of the companies that have donated food would like a few pictures so they can put them on their twitter/facebookpages.Thanks Everyone
0 · November 23, 2012
Linda, I will try to remember my camera so I can take some photos
I'll bring my camera and do my best :-) I sometimes get wobble
Hi Beata/Katherine thank-you both for bring your camera and taking some photos for them.I really appreciate it.I'm not sure why i don't have a camera.
Hi Mia,What is your telephone number? Can you please let me know if you still need some food? I could make some sandwiches and maybe a cake? I've seen also that you don't have drinks, should I bring some tea bags? Will there be any place to make some tea?
Hi Beata, my number is[masked] 646. Yes all food is still welcome as it will be for all to share but please don't worry if you cannot, you don't have to bring anything to join in! xx
Oh and yes sorry, we do have tea urns for hot water. x
have posted this on the McDougall website
1 · November 23, 2012
Hi Katherine May i ask what the McDougall website is Thank-you
Hi Storm, It's the website of Dr John McDougall who promotes a starch based low fat vegan diet. His work is similar to that of Drs Dean Ornish and Caldwell Esselstyn if you've heard of them. Most of the users on the website are in the US but there's a growing number in the UK.
Crazy, that's 13 veg*n-related Meetup groups so far, just within the Greater London area! And I haven't even put it on the gender/profession/nationality groups, or all the raw food ones, or included fruitarians.
Check out this list of some of the main Meetup groups, to see what I mean http://meetup.com/volentians/Lo...
0 · November 22, 2012
madness,so many groups but a good type of madness
United we stand, divided we...
This is why I tried creating a combined calendar, to reduce cross-posting, which in the end Robb kindly perfected (damn my lack of technical expertise!). See http://vegevents.co.u...
Wow, I had no idea there could be that many vegan groups in London! Gosh imagine if even 50% of the people possibly coming donated a little food or stuff for the give and take, that would be a very big vegan feast! With lots of goodies to take after!
This networking is amazing, thank you! It really feels like a community on here! x
Yes there is a huge amount of groups.Hopefully everyone coming will either bring lots of lovely vegan food or donate some stuff to the give and take.
The Vegan Tart won't be able to join us now due to personalcircumstances so sadly we won't be having any of their lovely cakes. If anyone else can bring some yummy vegan cakes or anyother dishes that would be great.
Hoping to bring some Vegusto samples... fingers crossed... that I don't scoff them on the journey up LOL
2 · November 22, 2012
yum yum ok i'll keep those fingers crossed
1 · November 22, 2012
Hi Richard I've rsvped for the vegan conscious group as that's the only onei'm on out of those listed.
For what it's worth, at this late hour, I've also 'suggested' this event on the following extra groups. If anyone can help to get them announced by RSVPing, that would be great...
Feel free to turn up any time after 10:30am (but preferably a bit before 4pm!) and hopefully(!) you'll find people already inside.
If you can bring something along for the vegan potluck (i.e. food to share) that would be great.
Please include a list of all ingredients, so people can look out for potential allergens. It's also nice to name the dish :-)
Hope to see you there (I aim to be along about noon).
you are welcome Mia
0 · November 21, 2012
wow, that was quick! I'm actually not on the vegetarian group so thank you for getting it up there! xx
Always happy to help.Glad it's now announced on the veg group
1 · November 21, 2012
LOL That was quick, I just returned to that veg Meetup and Linda and Neel have already helped to announce it!
It's now suggested on the veg group (http://www.meetup.com/vegetaria...), can some of you please RSVP on there too, to get it announced, as I'd imagine that it's the main target audience. Cheers
Good to see we've about 50 people attending across the Meetups and Facebook :-) Just found out I'll be one of them!
Hi, didn't want to add to the main section, just in case I changed it or deleted it! But hopefully this link will take you to the facebook event page. http://www.facebook.com/#!/even...If it doesn't, the page name is 'free christmas fair.'
0 · November 12, 2012
That works okay, it's nice for people to see that there are more people coming from other groups/sites.
0 · November 13, 2012
Hi Mia - I live just round the corner from this school & can offer help however suits you best (storage, fridge-space....) and probably can bring some bric-a-brac and food if needed.
0 · November 19, 2012
Hi Gareth, thats great thank you! Can you send me your email/phone no? I will contact you in the week if thats ok? x
Hey all, I work with the energy of the dolphins and whales and would be delighted to help out with holistic treatments and bring the gift of the dolphins and whales to all the vegans there :-)
3 · November 6, 2012
Hi Neel, that sounds fantastic and very unique i'll ask Mia to contact you.
0 · November 6, 2012

Thank-you for everything you have done Richard
0 · November 10, 2012
Oops pressed the wrong button! This sounds really exciting! Could you send me your email address so we can talk more? It would be fantastic if you could come and offer this. My email is [masked] x
Hey Mia, just emailed you! (www.appreciate-life.com)
Thanks, I will check out the link you gave me too. x
I've added 'The Appreciate Life Project' Meetup link on the other groups (see http://vegevents.co.u...=) and will ask Robb (or can you do it Mia?) to add it on here too.
1 · November 10, 2012
Sorry, I'm not sure how that '=' got added to my comment.
You are awesome Richard! Thank you! :-)
No problem Neel, as Mia would say, it's the Freeconomy in action (you provide your time for free, in exchange we provide some free promotion) :-) (Oh, and that '=' was my, or to be precise Firefox browser's, fault)
Sounds delightful! Do the dolphin's know the whimsical song from the film of 'Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy', ''So long, & thanks for all the fish??'' Sung by the lovely Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy) , the quirky imagry taken directly from the book, wherein the dolphins are 'off & out of here' just before the world is dextryed!! :) All the best, this sounds like a lovly event...I should make it! Jess :)

*Haha, typo...''destroyed''* :-D
I agree Mia Justfortheloveofit is great and as today is the first ever Global Sharing Day http://www.compareandshare.com/... lets celebrate the Freeconomy Philosophy and websites like justfortheloveofit, Freecycle and Streetbank that are all great sharing communities.Although not essentially a vegan event this saturdaythere is a Streetbank ( http://www.streetbank.com) inspiredsharing event taking place https://www.facebook.com/events/...
1 · November 14, 2012
I meant 'philosophy'!
0 · November 14, 2012
I would like to add that this event was inspired by the 'freeconomy' philosphy as shown on the website http://www.justfortheloveofit.o... It is great free-share site which I would recommend anyone to take a look at. x
Hi Ciaran thanks for offering to help out. What would you be interested in helping out with eg making vegan food, treatments etc.
Many thanks once again
I can help out by making food.
2 · November 6, 2012
Fantastic Ciaran, what are you thinking of making?
i'm sure it will be delicious Ciaran
Hi All There will be a give and take at the event.I'm not sure everyone knows what a give and take is so for those that don't Give & Takes are a great way to recycle. They offer you the chance to pass on items you no longer want, that are in good condition and working order for others to reuse. No money is exchanged and lots of useful items are diverted from landfill.
As an example if you have any of the following items that you no longer want then please bring them to our give and take:Clothing, DVDs, videos, unwanted gifts, accessories, childrens items books, toys, bric-a-brac and small electrical items which are clean ,easily transportable and in working order such as kettles, phones, toasters, cameras, hair dryers, etc.
If you have any queries about the give or take aspect of the event please let me know and i will do my best to answer them.I currently run give and take events with camden /westminster/islington councils and the city of london, they are a great way to find homes for things you no longer need/want and maybe pick up something you do.
This covers: Third party costs incurred by the group (but not Meetup.com's "organiser dues").
Payment is accepted using:
Refunds are not offered for this Meetup.
