Speed Games night

Please arrive for 6.30pm when food will be served :-)

Special Menu - £15 to pay on day & drinks NOT included

(you don't need to choose which starter/desert you want - you get half of both!)

Starter

Heart's desire / Beetroot, Red Card & Rocket salad

Main
Carrot tart served with steamed vegetable, saute' potato and home-made tomato sauce

Dessert
Apple Crumble with Vanilla ice cream / Chocolate Gateau with Vanilla ice cream

Games schedule (food is 6.30-7.30 pm)

The planned games are (5 minutes ONLY in pairs!);

1) Snap - simple card game of matching numbers or suits then you say "snap"

2) Who am I? / Twenty questions - your partner has to guess who you are

3) Draughts - move to the other side of the board

4) Connect 4 (someone should be bringing) - get four in a row any which way

5) Yatzy - taking turns to through dice and complete sheet

6) Snakes and Ladders - trying to get as high up the grid as possible whilst missing the snakes

7) 21 - getting 21 using cards

8) Charades - acting out a song,play, etc

9) Mallets mallet - word association game where someone says something and you say a word associated with it, and so forth. If you snooze you lose!

Well this is the plan, we see what actually happens :-)

Again, please arrive for 6.30pm or call/text me on 07854 595 985. We plan to start speed gaming 7.30pm prompt!

OH MY GOD!!!! I forgot to pay!!! Im so so so so sorry, i remembered as i was gerring off the tube in tower hill!! Please could someone pick my bill up so i can pay them baxk rather than owing everyone a pound?? IM so sorry!! Im very embarassed! Xxxx

Hi Emma. We all paid separately for our own meals but maybe if you call 222 restaurant on 020 7381 2322 round about lunch time you could check with them if you can pay by credit/debit card over the phone. Anyway, great to see you and hope you'll come along to another event soon. Thanks.

Hiya, didn't realise that It was such a big event and I assumed that like every other event here, it's fine to cancel the day before. If you are concerned about numbers then maybe charging an upfront fee would be helpful.

Furthermore, I haven't read all of the 70+ messages on here as I have other stuff to do.

I signed up at the beginning and haven't checked since.

  I have to disagree with the idea that "it's fine to cancel the day before" for "every other event here". For any event when the host has booked a number of places, it's very inconvenient if people cancel so close to the event itself. And while waiting lists can help mitigate the issue, even they're of little help so late in the day. Please see http://www.londonvega...

  Well I hope you guys had a good time. Please remember this is an Internet forum and not a family gathering so people change their minds at the last minute it shouldn't be a big deal. Plus, the menu and the pricing wasn't available when I signed up and I only saw it yesterday. Chill out guys, take it easy. May see you in the vegan ether, lots of love xxx

  As the group organiser, I don't really need someone to patronise me by telling me what the group is and isn't. Besides, it's much more than an internet forum (the clue being in the word "Meetup").
  
  But you're right about one thing: it isn't a family gathering. Event organisers (probably) aren't your relatives. Yet despite that, they give up their time to arrange events for the members of the group. They don't ask for much in return. They don't ask for money. They don't ask for thanks. But I don't think it's too much to ask for a little common sense and common decency.

  It's common sense that last minute cancellations and no-shows have three effects:
  1) They inconvenience members who would like to have gone (but couldn't because the event was fully booked).
  2) They hurt restaurants who have saved us space that we don't use (which can make them reluctant to take our bookings in future).
  3) They deter event hosts from organizing future events.
  
  Therefore it's common decency for members to turn up at an event if they say they're going to do so. Or to give someone else a *realistic* chance to take their place (by changing their attendance *well* before the event). And if they're really unable to do so, then an apology should be the very least they can offer.

Hello!! Could I possibly come along to this but not order off the set menu... really sorry.. its just £15 not including drinks is a tiny bit out of my budget, since I have a new job and they are yet to pay me! I'll eat dinner, but can't be splashing out that much money :( Ill withdraw from the guest list if this isnt ok. I do want to come though :)

  Firstly let me say that I appreciate you organising this event. but I think Ben will lose out if you book for 20 people and omnly 15 turn up. Surely he would benefit by having more people!. Just to say that I did host a meal for 40 people at 222 last Xmas through London Vegans (not London Vegan Meetup) so i am familiar wit orgaing meals at restaurants.

  Brian, as Beenal has already said, she thinks that you might be better at organising events that her. So there's no need to be patronising. And as you well know, 222 struggled to cater for the London Vegans group. Therefore, it makes sense to either limit the numbers or get enough people for them to offer a buffet. Beenal and Ben agreed a cut-off date of the 17th for deciding which way to go, and by that date there weren't enough people for the latter solution - hence Beenal going for the former solution. Besides, it's up to event organisers to decide what size event they're comfortable managing.

Beenal, I am really scared now...vegetarians and blood??? 222 was the first vegetarian/vegan place I have ever went to and I loved the food, but from what I remeber it is a rather small place...unless they made some extensions (haven't been there for the last two years or so). Cannot think of any games at the moment, but give me more time...

I remember the name of the game I told you about: it's called "privacy" not sure, if the first meeting of this kind is the right place for a game like this... It's called privacy for a reason. ;) I'd love to play it with 12 people someday. :D
