London Vegan Meetup

VOLUNTEER DAY AT FRIEND ANIMAL SANCTUARY KENT

Meet at Charing Cross Mainline Station 9.15am by the ticket office - or drive to Friend 89 BushRd

We will be helping out at a vegan-run sanctuary for rescued farmed animals.
Bring wellies and a snack though a (very tasty) vegan meal is usually provided by the sanctuary. Lifts to and from Paddock Wood Station are available. These visits are always enjoyable and a chance to meet like-minded people and interact with many animals (normally including feeding them).......we usually leave around 5pm but people can leave earlier if they want of course.

    Hi sorry all that it turned out to be uncertain - i would have just cancelled but some still wanted to try so didnt think i should people not go if they could go!...did anyone get there - let us know if you did - but please sign up for the next one.....jx

      We could try to organise the travel to Kent a bit better. Maybe one comment for the ones going by train and another for others going by car (maybe stating from where and when and if the would be willing to ride share).

      yup i agree - i think the weather conditions didnt help - but will post something along those lines on this meetup on vegan site - i cant change the one on animal rights - please sign up for the event on here otherwise it will not get shown if there are < than 3 agreeing to go! jx

      Chis I was going to park the bike and walk the rest of the way but I was a bit concerned that if it started to snow it would take too long to get back to the bike....It was not snowing at tonbridge just a bit of black ice on the ground.....I love black ice..haha!

      Hi Aless! Last time, people assembled at 09.15 and got a later train. So if Mark is going to give people lifts from the station, he wouldn't expect people to arrive on that train.

    we have decided to cancel tomorrows volunteer day due to current weather conditions, some people were concernd about travel. However if you live locally or can get there - please do as Friend are always needing help around the sanctuary.

    The next one will be end of February, i will post the details. Many thanks for your generous support and hope to see you all there very soon.

    Keep an eye on the weather - if trains are running and roads are ok then the day is still on. For those driving - unless you have snow chains or are ok about driving - keep an eye on the weather - the sanctuary are always needing help with feeding etc.

    Want to know something funny? I was waiting at Charing x at 9am last Saturday, I waited 30 minutes then I thought perhaps I got the wrong date.... I did... If we don't go this Saturday I will definitely make it next one.

    Dear all - checking out the weather conditions tomorrow morning as its still too early to tell whether it will come our way or not - will keep you posted. If its heavy snow forcast then it may not be a good idea to drive and trains may well be affected. if this is the case will postpone till next week.

    if anyone needs some cheap green wellies - i went to the local or B and Q garden centre - i think they were around 10-15 quid - but if someone knows anywhere cheaper........

      No. We show up at the ticket office and get as many tickets as we need. Everyone gets his or her own printed ticket (one outbound and one return ticket)

      yup - as Sebastian says - u turn up at the tkt office - more than 4 means group discount of 50% etc, - it is helpful if you have some small denomination notes/pound coins as well. Look forward to seeing you!

    I also suggest a change of trousers - due to rainfall its been quite muddy at the sanctuary.

    Please also if you could bring change with you to charing x - we get group discounts - and found it saves time at the ticket office if we have the right change!
