Visiting London town for a few weeks (tho had given no thought to that whole Olympic thing ya have going on so bit scared by that & seeking to run away soon...); but will likely return as I now have several friends here whom I'm assimilating to VEG!
Oh Geez! I guess I'm the dreaded non-vegan (aka beegan) as I do consume honey if it's well-sourced (meaning I know the farmer who reveres the bees and doesn't take them off-site). I think good honey can be much less harmful to bees than industrial almonds (seriously, read the San Francisco Gate article on how they are woken up in January after being trucked all across the states to work for several weeks and then get their honey thrown out because almond honey is too bitter -- http://www.sfgate.com/magazine/article/The-Almond-and-the-Bee-2518870.php -). However, I am mostly raw, avoiding all gluten and soy so that takes me back up a notch, making me a level-4 vegan... And I do avoid animal products in other ways such as cosmetics (baking soda rules!), household products, etc. I even splurged on a nifty cork purse recently in Portugal so I could show peeps how cool vegan can be.
Fresh raw coconut milk, green smoothies, grelos (Portuguese), loquats (aka maddlers?), figs, Oregon strawberries & cherries, great salads, avocados, Columbian passion fruit, longen, arugula (aka rocket), sun-dried tomatoes, walnuts... No Gluten nor Soy though (my body rejects it -- thank you Monsanto you evil monstrosity) and absolutely no cilantro (aka fresh coriander -- though the seeds rock). No unfungus either such as mushrooms, slimy little things... but who needs those when there is so many soups, such as raw green ones, or raw beet & curry, or any variation of the lovely Portuguese ones I've discovered recently including adding fried sage leaves on as a topping. Whoa!
Well, so far 42 Raw. It's the meaning of life itself. :D So long, and thanks for all the Flax!
I don't know if it's a question but the idea that this is some sort of new-fangled thing that is only possible because of modern abundance and technology. =] There's also that our brains would never have developed without meat, or that only veg*ns need to worry about careful planning of a diet to assure proper nutrients, especially when it comes to B12 considering that some 40% or more of the entire population is deficient which covers far more than vegans... or that B12 is actually an animal product (rather than a soil bacteria that is being destroyed by modern meat production). Whatever it takes for others to hold on to resistance to change and being more responsible for the choices one makes... I guess.
Fun; and meeting new peeps who might turn into life-long friends.
