Hi, thanks for visiting!

We meet monthly on the third Thursday of every month in London.

This month (17th April) we'll be joined by Rob Smith, Strategy Director at digital agency Blueleaf. Rob also sits on various digital steering groups and is an adviser to Chester University. Rob blends entrepreneurialism, staggery and technical experience to help businesses succeed with their digital projects. Rob likes to offer advice on how businesses can produce  great development and design work that will achieve the business goals of the project whether the goals are engagement or cold hard cash.

Rob's session will be:

Running a Project Team: Producing quality whilst delivering on time and on budget

"How do you motivate the team to produce their best creative work, whilst never forgetting the commercials?  There's all sorts of methodologies available for seeing a project from start to finish - PRINCE, Waterfall and agile to name a few. Rob will give advice on how to tackle a project and decide the method to use to get the right commercial return whilst never loosing the ambition to create outstanding work.

During this talk you will learn about delivering successful projects, inspiring teams, encouraging team work, increasing creativity and developer freedom."

Thanks all for coming and for such positive feedback. As soon as I have Rob's slides I'll post them here along with a link to the video (which should be in the next couple of days).
Hope to see you next time!

What are the timings for this (approximate talk start and end times)? It would be good in future to have this information in the event description.

Also, why isn't Lou listed as the host?

Yes an 8pm start for talks was normal as it provided the opportunity for some mingling beforehand. First time in my four years attending that I've missed half the talk but good evening nevertheless.

Hi all, thanks for your comments. I couldn't make this meet-up but it sounds like it went well. We have been meeting from 7:30pm and kicking off the sessions between 7:45pm and 7:50pm in recent months, mainly so there is more time for questions and a drink and a chat in the bar afterwards. I appreciate your comments and will be sure to make this clearer on all correspondence in the future. Hope to see you next time! Lou :)

Rob, thanks for a very thought provoking and realistic view of digital project management. I could really relate to your real world approach and your mix of waterfall agile agile agile Waterfall PM.

Having used Belbin and Myers Briggs lol! to choose team members before your descriptions of certain team members that can make or break a team were spot on.

    Once again

    Many Thanks.

    George! :o)

I go to a lot of events and hear a lot of speakers, but this was far and away one of the most enjoyable, entertaining and yet all the while still very informative presentation I have attended. I loved the content, the presentation style and the fact that I came away learning not one, but several new ideas/concepts that I can put into practice to hopefully manage my teams better. Thank you to all involved and well done to Rob for such a great talk.
