This month we are privileged to hear from Derick Rethans who is speaking on MongoDB and NoSQL.

Derick maintains the XDebug debugging tool for PHP, has written a number of books, and has spoken at London Web in the past.

Derick has been working with the MongoDB team lately in their London office, so he will have a great insight into the wonderful world of NoSQL.

Derick's talk covered the API and typical uses well, but it was the Q&A that really made the evening for me: a great selection of questions from all corners of the business and cogent and considered replies.

Derick Rethans talk on MongoDB and NoSQL was useful and I know feel like I have a good understanding of how it works, what it can be used for, and have gained good insight into key details about MongoDB and NoSQL in general. I learned people in London pronounce NoSQL as "no skull" but also use "no sequel" and "no S-Q-L". I noted that in New Zealand I heard it pronounced as "no skill".

Would've been good if it had started a little more promptly but the talk was great - chap really knew his stuff!

great overview of MongoDB by someone who clearly knew the topic inside and out. I particularly enjoyed the Q&A portion at the end.
