WHAT?
A monthly get-together for London writers who want input on their work.

The meeting takes the form of six time-slots of 20 minutes. You can use this slot in whatever way would help your writing. You might want to:
- read (or bring) a short piece of writing and get feedback on it
- describe a plot problem and get input on it
- get ideas on how to break through writers' block
- or something else entirely

If you are doing a reading, bear in mind that your total slot is 20 minutes, so I recommend your reading is an absolute maximum of 10 minutes, to allow sufficient time for feedback. I recommend bringing along 20 copies of the piece so that we can see it as well as hear it, but this is not essential.

WHO?
Anyone who is currently writing, or would like to be.

HOW?
Slots are booked on the night on a first-come, first-served basis. Please arrive before 7pm if you would like to book one.

There are no themes for these meetings - just bring whatever you are currently working on.

WHERE?
The Shooting Star is less than 5 mins walk from Liverpool Street station, on the central Line.
*** Meetup's map is wrong, so please follow these directions ***
Take the Bishopsgate exit from the main rail concourse, cross the road, turn left and Middlesex Street is 2nd right. The pub is about 100 metres down on the right-hand side, and we meet in the function room downstairs.

WHEN?
Please arrive before 7pm so you have time to buy a drink at the upstairs bar beforehand and we can start promptly at 7pm. (This hasn't ever happened yet, but I'm a hopeless optimist.)

The formal part of the meeting runs until approximately 9.15pm. At that point, we move upstairs to the bar for general chat and the consumption of liquid sustenance.

IMPORTANT:
Places are limited, so if you RSVP 'Yes' and then find you cannot make it, please change your RSVP to 'No' as soon as you know - and by the night before at the latest. If you RSVP 'Yes' and then fail to show up, you are denying a place to a fellow member who would love to have been there. For this reason, no-shows are suspended from the group.

    •  I thought this one was really useful and after reading for the first time (and so nervous!) but it was great. I loved the writing exercise and think we should definitely do this again...Andrea is a fantastic group leader.
    •  There were a lot of new people at this meeting which was wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and supportive but also offered some good feedback to those who read. Because many of the readers brought 'short' pieces with them, there was time at the beginning to do a 10 minute free write. Afterwards in the pub, many people mentioned how surprised they were by what they'd written. I think it is worth doing again at some point in the future.
    •  Good feedback, didn't hate the exercise as much as I thought it would. Useful as always
    •  Andrea did a fantastic job at running the meeting. The writing exercise at the beginning was particularly useful - considering that many of the people at the meeting were looking for inspiration to get their pens moving again!
