  • January 20, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • Shooting Star pub

Join us for our first writing workshop of 2014 with professional teacher and published author, Courttia Newland.

Courttia will be presenting a workshop focused on the following topics:

  • How to build a scene
  • Creating believable characters
  • Writing dialogue that doesn't clunk along the page
  • and more!

He'll be bringing his vast personal and professional experience to deliver a workshop for writers of all levels and stages. During this workshop you'll be asked to do exercises so please bring something to write on.

I found Courttia via the Arvon Foundation so I'm certain his teaching is something not to be missed but for more about Courttia, please visit his website: http://courttianewland.com/ and connect with him on Twitter @courttianewland

Cost: £10 for two-hour workshop

Location: The Shooting Star is less than 5mins walk from Liverpool Street station, on the central Line.

Directions: Take the Bishopsgate exit from the main rail concourse, cross the road, turn right at Dirty Dicks pub onto Middlesex Street. The pub is just a few minutes down on the right-hand side and we meet in the function room downstairs.

I really enjoyed it. Courttia's delivery style was honest, straightforward and really made sense. It was good of him to stay behind to listen to some more readings as well.

The workshop focused on the key ingredients. I now have a much better idea on how to develop my characters and engage readers into dialogue. Really enjoyed it, thank you!

Wow that was really helpful. I am in the planning stages of writing and didn't quite know where to begin. This workshop has definitely pointed me in the right direction. It was also my first. So glad I attended :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
