I seem to lean towards sci-fi / horror ideas but enjoy writing about anything once I get going. At the moment I haven't got anything I'm writing properly, mostly looking at old ideas and deciding if they're worth sticking with. A few of them revolve around events from childhood - blackouts in a scary part of town, or growing up in a religious family. I'd like to join the group as it's been a while since I was around other writers. My job is heavily involved in the arts, which has given me the bug again, and this seems like a large enough group that a range of experiences and genres can be catered for. Being new to the city it'd be great to meet some like-minded people too.
Ideally I'm looking for a push to finish something, in whatever genre, rather than flitting between some half-baked ideas. I'm also out of practice so anything which gets me immersed into writing again - along with providing some impartial feedback - would be great. A group focused on fiction is helpful too since it's the style I'm most comfortable working in. Having never attended a writer's group before I don't really have any expectations. I'm hoping it'll be friendly and supportive, and somewhere I can feel comfortable both writing and sharing in. As a group who clearly love writing fiction I'm hoping that shared purpose can push everyone forward with what they want to write.

Google search, at the suggestion of my girlfriend.

I'm 29, Scottish, and recently moved to London where my girlfriend has lived for a couple of years. I recently completed my PGCE but decided against teaching at the end of it. I used to write a lot at uni and am trying to feel my way back into it.
