Which form of fiction are you writing - or why would you like to join us?

I've written a few short stories and drafts of three (shortish) novels - the latter motivated by NaNoWriMo. And I now feel myself lost in the drafting desert! I'd definitely like to improve what I've written so far, and continue the impetus to create more. My first novel had a scientist as main character (write what you know...); the second featured scientific themes, but less obviously, and the third was about an assassination attempt by a circus troupe at a music festival! So I've ruined the pattern there.

What kind of writing support are you looking for?

I'd like constructive feedback on what I've been writing so far from people who are enthusiastic and know a little about fiction! I could ask friends to read my stuff but I fear they'd be too nice. I'm a journalist, so I'm not afraid of strong criticism. I also find I need a little external motivation to keep writing and re-writing. NaNoWriMo in November is a reasonably extreme way of getting that, and very fleeting.

I'm a science journalist based in London. I make podcasts and write news and features for the science journal Nature, and I'm particularly geeky about neuroscience - though my job takes in everything from quantum physics to genetics.
