Which form of fiction are you writing - or why would you like to join us?

I am currently working on several projects. One is a screen play I am adapting from a short stage play I wrote entitled 'Last orders'. This was a piece I entered into a scheme for new writers run by the National Theatre. The piece was developed and staged by National Theatre directors and actors. After watching it brought to life on stage, I felt it may work well on screen. I then enrolled on a screen writing course at city lit and am currently in the process of writing Last orders as a screen play. The story is about a young man enjoying university life who fails his exams, spends all his student loan and has to return home to live with his grandmother and work at a pub. The second project I am working on is a story of an eight year old girl who lives with her struggling young mum ( she had her as a fourteen year old), baby sister and bull dog named Bruiser. They live together at the top of a block of flats. The story describes the girl change from an aggressive, mouthy kid to a hero.

What kind of writing support are you looking for?

I am hoping the group will provide an opportunity to read and share work with supportive, like - minded people. I think it would provide a fantastic place to network and share experiences with other writers who are in a similar situation, and hopefully receive constructive feedback/criticism from people who could listen to my work objectively and encourage me to keep going. I would also hope to attend workshops offering practical advice and tips on getting published, finding an agent, making my work stand out etc. I would also be happy to read other people's work and offer constructive criticism for others. I think it sounds like a fantstic opportunity that I would love to get involved with.
