Hello, are you a creative writer/author based in London? And looking for a group of 2,500+ like-minded individuals? Congratulations. You've found it.
London Writers' Cafe is a fiction writers' group where any creative writer can volunteer to read their own work for instant feedback in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Incredibly, we've been around for eight years as of this Summer (founded June, 2006). Yay!
So, if you seek a group to help you move your fiction writing forward, join us and try our regular critique sessions, publishing talks and group socials for yourself - we have a good feeling that you'll enjoy it. But if you're unsure, sign up (for free), come along to a critique night (for a fiver) and if you find it's not for you, no harm done.
For what's up next, please see our calendar (on your left) of critique sessions, talks on writing and publishing with some of the industry's finest, and (rollicking) socials. We meet in a venue close to Liverpool St/Holborn stations but are expanding to other locations this year.
As for reading your stuff, that only happens once you feel ready; you'll never be pressured to share anything, or offer feedback, until you volunteer to do so. We believe in giving the opportunities - completely up to you when you take advantage of them.
For creative fiction writers, it's completely free to join (and it always will be) but we have to charge for meetings and special events to cover costs.
A couple of things to note, to join LWC you should:
- write novels, plays, monologues, scripts, screenplay, short stories, poems and the like (i.e. any FICTION writing project)
- live or work in London, or close enough to attend our meetings
- want to meet a friendly and supportive group of like-minded individuals
- Be starting to write, actively writing, editing/drafting, submitting to agents, agented, or published (it really doesn't matter to us).
All applications are considered individually by me (Lisa) so please take the time to fill out our quick profile then I can quickly approve your request and you can come along to your first meetup. Whoop.
