How it works

LWC meets many times every month. You can RSVP to attend as many or as few as you like. We encourage regular attendance but we know how busy London lives can get!

But some other FAQs to note.

  • If you would like to read at one of the meetings, please post in the comments section 'I'd like to read' on the event's page after you've RSVP'd. You’ll see all the comments post under the details of the event. They're assigned on a first come, first in basis.

  • You can always look ahead in our calendar and book in advance to get a space to read. We now have meetings scheduled throughout the year so there are plenty of opportunities for everyone. http://www.meetup.com...

  • If the meeting you want to attend is full, please take a look at upcoming dates and book early as we have become increasingly popular in recent months.

  • We have only 4-6 reading spaces available in each meeting so it's a first come, first served booking system. If one event is already full, please look for the next event where reading spots are still free.

  • Any piece for reading should be no more than 15 minutes long. At normal reading pace, this equates to approximately 2,500 words.

  • For the best feedback, please bring printed copies of your work (10 or more is best) so others can make notes, annotations and provide specific examples when they critique.

  • You'll receive email reminders from the meetup.com website to let you know when and where the next meeting is happening. (Unless you've opted out of email notifications in your account settings)

  • If you have opted out of emails, you’ll not receive any emails from LWC organisers so we do encourage you to stay signed up and just delete anything that isn’t relevant.

  • Occasionally our meetings will be replaced with a special guest speaker, workshop or literary event but you'll see those details in the reminder emails or on the website.

  • LWC is a professional organisation and so any special guest talks, workshops and events will be charged to cover the work involved in booking venues, admin and guest expenses.

  • All booking payments are taken by PayPal when you RSVP so your place is secured. No refunds can be provided unless a meeting is cancelled.

  • If you find you can’t make it and can login to the site, please, please, please change your RSVP so someone on the WAITING list can take your spot. Barring all understandable catastrophes (or your sudden death) we appreciate it if you could make a point of changing the RSVP to NOT ATTENDING.

  • Meetup have a free app that lets you manage your RSVPs on the go, download it here: http://itunes.apple.c...

  • Consistently booking but not showing up will mean we may have to reconsider your membership. So please keep your status up to date as much as possible.
