Nixon Library and Birthplace

We are blessed here in Southern California to have two Presidential Libraries just a stones throw from us. So I thought it was about time we went. Nixon Library first, and some time in the future, we'll perhaps go to the Reagan Library as well.

Love him or hate him; there is no denying this fellows impact on the country, for good and for bad. But there is so much not known about him. For example, how many know he is responsible for giving us the EPA. That's right, the Environmental Protection Agency started with the Nixon administration. I wont give away anymore, you'll have to come along and find out more for yourself.

As is the usual custom; I've planned the least complicated route. Truth be told, I found the route by accident. I was supposed to go one way, passed up the street, and found an absolute gem of a route. Funny how those wrong turns send us where we wanted to go all along. Three turns total, that's all. Los Coyotes Diag., Right on Carson, to Lincoln, to Nohl Ranch Rd., Left on Imperial, then Left on Yorba Linda to the museum. I know I've said this before, but this time, I really will bring maps.

I've negotiated a discount for us, provided we get at least 15 rsvp's by the 12th. Usual cost, $11.95 Gen., $8.50 Seniors, and $6.95 Active military. Our cost $7.95,(self guided). We could get a docent to guide us, but that would be $13.95 a head, and besides, we're scooter people, we go our own way, right?

After, we will have lunch across the street at Stefano's Golden Baked Hams. Best Paninis this side of the Atlantic. I can personally recommend the Cubano Stefano. Check them out at www.stefanoshams.com

We'll start a little earlier for this one, because of the distance, and time needed to see all the exhibits. They are having a wedding in the evening in the "East room", but if we are early enough, we still can see it before thy set-up.

Earlier in the week I said I would have an announcement the day of the ride. Well, things have moved quicker than I anticipated, so I will make the announcement now. Once again, we have shirts. I will bring to the ride as many different sizes and styles as I can. That's right, I said styles; meaning we now have Ladies style soft shirts, no pocket "V" necks. I've got Ladies V neck in S, M, L, and XL. And Men', ( still with pocket ) in M, L, XL, 2X, and 3X. I learned from last round to have more of a selection. I see a few of you had to back out, sorry about that; but fear not, shirts will be around for quite a while. And now the good thing is if I run out of one size or another, our shirt guy assures me he can do a small run to fill in any shortages. See you at the ride.

It's about time I got out and did some scooter riding. I'll meet you in Long Beach but I'll probably go home after the Nixon Library tour since I live in Diamond Bar.
