Palisade Winefest - Tour de Vineyards biking event 2013

Come join us for a great way to celebrate the start of fall, by participating in this 25-mile ride through the Colorado’s Wine Country (on paved roads with a few hills). The event is located in the Grand Valley on the Western Slope and gives cyclists an opportunity to pass by the areas wineries, as well as acres of vineyards and fruit orchards. The Tour de Vineyards is held just prior to the Colorado Mountain Winefest "Festival in the Park" with over 50 of the states winery’s available for your tasting. And, congratulations to our Women riders who make up over 60% of our participants!!!

The Tour de Vineyards is considered an easier ride with one big hill and the rest of the course being rolling to flat. The ride is similar to events like the Elephant Rock, MS 150, or Copper Triangle-it is not a Napa ride with 20 riders and a van to drive you to winery’s and the ride does not stop at each winery as they are busy preparing for that days “Festival in the Park”. An aid station is available at Carlson Vineyards (approximately half way through the course) which features famous "Palisade Peaches" from Talbott Farms. The ride is a great way to get some exercise before wine tasting at the Colorado Mountain Winefest “Festival in the Park”.

The Start & Finish is located in Palisade, CO at Peach Bowl Park (take exit 42 off I-70 and go south less than a mile to 5th and Elberta). The ride begins between the hours of 7-8 am (start at your leisure during this time frame but before 8 am to avoid winefest traffic which begins later in the morning). FREE SHOWERS ARE AVAILABLE at the pool in the park (you bring towels, soap, etc). from the start/finish. Shuttle buses will be also be available from Peach Bowl Park for your convenience.

Everything is priced and reserved separately - bike tour, entrance to winefest, shuttle bus to event, hotel.

Organizer's notes:
Last year, we traveled up on Friday and planned a group dinner that night. We returned home on Sunday. But make arrangements for whatever travel days work best for you. We can plan car-pooling as the date draws near.

Last year, we stayed at the Super 8 in Grand Junction. It is a reasonably-priced (around $90.00 per night/2 Queen beds), clean hotel on the shuttle bus route.

I love this event, but I need to stay home to work. Darn!! Have fun kids. That hill is really easy if you take the route backwards.
