Bi-County Road Ride

The "Summer" like weather may be behind us temporarily, but Saturday still looks like a great day to ride. Should be clear and Sunny, low 50's.

The route (click for map) this week will take us East of town, then South through Erie and Niwot.

The mileage is around 37 miles, and the terrain is flat to rolling. County Road 7 climbs for a few miles to the highest point of the ride above Erie, it is a relatively gentle climb. Lookout road and highway 52 also both climb, but we avoid the BIG hill on Lookout!.

This is rated a Blue ride for distance and pace, pace will be 15 -17mph average, Pati will sweep at the back, the ride is NO-DROP (no one gets left behind!).

Ride Notes:

  • Rides will roll out no more than 5 mins after the advertised start time, please arrive early and be ready to roll on time.
  • Come prepared for mechanical breakdowns (bring spare tube, patch kit, tire levers, multi-tool).
  • Be sure to bring enough water for the length of the ride, especially with warmer weather ahead of us. As a general rule, one bottle of water is good for 1 hour of riding (8oz per 20 mins of ride time).

Great ride despite the wind, couple flats split everyone up a bit, but still fun.

I hate to say this, because it JUST ENCOURAGES HIM, but Nick put together a terrific route. I got a flat, so Jackie, Pati and I went it alone and every time I saw a hill I had no interest in climbing, Pati would say "no, the route says, turn right". Yeah! I saw goats and llamas and a dairy herd and somebody saw an eagle. There were lovely views, interesting homes, some lakes, some pumping well heads, even the inevitable water tower (after all, this IS a Nick route). Three cheers for our resident Brit!

I'll definitely ride that route again, although we didn't appreciate you speedy folks leaving all that wind behind for us to ride into at every turn! Ha. Thanks for another great meetup ride!

Hey Folks, I realized the route map was incorrect, it is now updated. This weeks route takes us South to Erie, then West and back via Niwot. We are meeting at Left Hand Brewery this week. See you all tomorrow.
