Trail description:

Wildwood Park is a gem to be explored. To the north, the imposing presense of Mount Clef Ridge humbles us. On the south, Arroyo Conejo has carved out a V-shaped canyon over millions of years. An endless span of grassland lies in-between. One could easily picture a stagecoach running by.

Paradise Falls is at the bottom of the canyon. It drops 40 feet into a large pool along the Arroyo Conejo. Lizard Rock stands solitary on the western end. It is the distant landmark that calls out to hikers.

We plan to explore the entire park via Mesa, Santa Rosa, Stagecoach, Lizard Rock, Eagle Point, Wildwood, Tepee and Moonridge trail. In this hike, we will explore every trail in the park.

Thank you so much for this hike and specially for waiting for us, that were late! that was very nice.

    March 3, 2013

  • Paul

I very much enjoyed the hike with everyone and it was too bad with all the traffic and those that never met up with us at all. We did regroup with many of you and that was nice and some took a short cut to the falls - Eric and friends. Look forward to seeing you again.

I never ever found the meetup place. My GPS failed me for the very first time. When I entered the address it got me to a private house. When I tried again, and turned around and around, I found myself again in front of this house with my stupid GPS telling me "you have arrived at your destiation"...I didn't know where to go.

      March 3, 2013

I don't trust GPS, I trust my maps more, and it was really easy if you just copy the directions they gave us. sorry you miss it:(

Mike it would have helped if your phone number was listed. I drove 45 miles (with the 101 jammed packed) it took me 1;30h instead of 45mns. My GPS took me to 928 W Avenida de Los Arboles, only it was a house, not a parking area. What a waste of time (3h) and gasoline.
So wanted to do this hike. Hope you will reschedule it and this time I will find it. Hope you're having a great day

looks like it. I never got the "announcement" email...well hope he'll do it again.

At the start, we were split in two groups. About 15 people left 5 min after 2pm and Scott waited for the late people. I am not sure how long he waited, but he went straight to Lizard Rock and caught up with the first group.

Sweep is 45 minutes late .... And I'm still not the latest! PCH was a bad option, there was an accident in Malibu. I'll just go with the stragglers.

CARPOOL from South Bay? Anyone along 405 wanna share a ride? Torrance, Redondo, Hermosa, ElSegundo, LAX, Marina, Culver City, etc??

    February 28, 2013

    • Eric B

I'm up for carpooling from Culver City/Westside. Fox Hills would be a good place to meet. Given the fact that the 405 Fwy North will be reduced to 2 lanes, we'll probably want to leave earlier (12:15-12:30 latest).

      March 1, 2013

    • Roya

Thank you, Eric. The 405 is hectic W/O the closures. It would be too messy today. But I really appreciate you offering to carpool. Have a great time. Hope you'll let us know that we were wrong!

Beware of the 405 closure this weekend. You westside folks might want to go up the coast and take Topanga or one of the other canyons.

    March 1, 2013

405 shut down to 2 lanes tomorrow = disaster for me to get there :(

Hi Mike, I know we already spoke and I was hoping things would go better with your mother and am so sorry they have not. Best of luck to you and your family. I will do my best to fill in. For those going on this hike, Wildwood is a great place to enjoy. I know it very well and hike there at least once a week. I look forward to meeting you all and will welcome all that show up. If anyone has a question I will try to answer in Mikes absence.

Hi everyone, really looking forward to hosting and seeing ya'll. The weather's looking great so it should be a good day for a hike.

Let's meet at the large wooden sign at the top of the parking lot. Also, since this is a popular spot, if the parking lot looks full, continue on past it and park on the street.

I'm sure we all wish Mike the best and look forward to seeing him upon his return.
