She was great. I hope we can get together in some kind of informal San Diego/LADA road trip meeting.

This was my first event for this group and I would like to thank the organizers for doing a really great job. I enjoyed all of the speakers and the range of topics from lighthearted to the deeper examination of themes in the books and movies. I was especially touched by the psychological discussion for a number of reasons from the purely academic to my own personal battles with depression, melancholia and loss. I have loved the books and movies and am glad to find there is a group of likeminded individuals. I hope I will get a chance to attend future meetings and get to better know some of the people.

it was amazing. while i would liked more time to socialize with interactive games, it was a really great experience. it's rare when i can hang around fellow hp enthusiasts. it's even more rare when those enthusiasts think about the psychological and social justice aspects of the series. yet more rare when they think about all that and read fanfiction. so it was a wonderful experience and i can't wait for a repeat!!

I would have really appreciated some socialising time. With the lectures back to back, it was really easy to zone out and not enjoy some of the later lectures. By the end, I was very mentally tired and I didn't want to be. With more breaks, the lectures might have been more enjoyable.

I'm seeing the commentary/complaints about there not being enough time to socialize, however I rather enjoyed the fact that this event was much more the academic sort and less of the ice cream social sort. Furthermore... the name really implies that notion... so... not sure why anyone was disappointed or surprised. I loved it, guys! The LOTR/HP Parallel presentation was different from the others in that it was by contrast less in-depth, but I perceived it as a more light-hearted presentation with that very intent (to be more easy-going and light hearted). I just say cheers to all! It was a well organized sequence of lectures and I think the organizers and speakers did an amazing job at packing in so much great content into the time allotted. *tips hat*
Also, if you stayed until the end and did not leave early, there was social time after and those interested in coming along all hung out at a pizza shop nearby after, played a game and socialized there ;)

    Love to all

There was a lot of content to get through and we didn't want the event to run too late. With the icebreaker at the beginning and the fan-fiction exercise in the middle we hoped it would be enough time to socialize. Hopefully you were able to connect with others in your Hogwarts House.

This was great! They did a great job putting it on. I really enjoyed most of the talks, especially Fantastic Beasts, Psychology of Harry Potter, the fanfiction history and analysis. The only small changes I would offer is that the Lord of the Rings/Harry Potter comparison could have been more academic and better researched, and I would have preferred more socializing. This was truly a joy to attend- thank you so much for putting it on.

Just a heads up that there are 150 seats for this event on a first come, first served basis. Upon check-in you will receive a badge and Hogwarts House and be guided to your seat. We may try to open up registration a little early (15 minutes or so) if we can to make sure we start on time.

***Parking - Do Not Park At The Vroman's Parking Lot***

Please find street parking or park at one of the public parking facilities for Hogwarts Academia.
Vroman's has a small free lot behind the store; however, it is limited to 90 minutes so you may get a ticketed or towed if you are parked over the allotted time.

There is a lot that is just down the street on El Molino and Union where you can park all day for $5 or click the link below other locations close to Vromans.

RSVPing as a 'yes' but, as always, this falls on whether or not I can get a baby sitter. Definitely hoping to make this one since I had to miss skate night due to family issues, though!
