Wizard Chef - Battle Potter - Part 2!

  • Sep 22, 2012 · 2:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Hey All,

Join the LADA for it's second cooking battle event with a Harry Potter twist! Two teams of seven will battle for victory! Each participant will be asked to bring a set of ingredients and will be "sorted" into two houses (teams). Ingredients will be magically divided between the two teams and each will have an hour and a half to come up with three dishes based on the ingredients allocated to their team (appetizer, main dish and a dessert).

Each team will be judged on the following:

- Dish name (needs to HP inspired)

- Originality

- Deliciousness (taste)

- Plating

Things to do/bring

- Due to the limited number of people that can attend thsi event, participants must be a LADA member in good standing (i.e. dues paid prior to RSVPing for event)

- Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you dont mind getting messy (or bring an apron)

- Ingredients will be assigned to you a few days before the event and you will need to bring these with you to the "battle"

- Bring a jacket (one team will be working outdoors)

- Bring your creativity (you never know what you will end up with)

- Bring a drink (alcoholic or non) to share with group

See you there!

A giant thank you to everyone that competed in Wizard Chef. This year's battle was truly magical. The teams really brought it and the MMGC ran a tight game. So epic!

I'm really sorry, but I have to withdraw my RSVP. My brother just decided last night to come visit my Mother in San Diego and that doesn't happen often. I'm going to head south this weekend. I apologize if I've messed anything up!!!

The MMGC has sent a special electronic owl with instructions for the battle this coming weekend. Each message has been charmed with the fidelius charm and the contents of each message are only to be known by the intended recipient. Please send a reply owl to the MMGC to confirm that you understand the rules of battle and that you are able to bring your assigned items.

I shall be there as well! Can't wait!

There is a Ralph's one block from my house, a Trader Joes and Whole Foods about a mile away (across the street from each other), and an independent Armenian market 1 mile down the street in case anyone wants to pick up their ingredients on the way.

    September 4, 2012

    • Jackie Z.

I should stop at that Armenian market just to get some of that AMAZING Babaganoush they sell. I dream about that stuff!!!

      September 5, 2012

    • Tanya M.

That Armenian market is amazing! It's called Pacific Food Mart on the corner of Pacific and Dryden in Glendale. They have really good cheese and olives too. If anyone is picking up fruit their fruit is grown in the San Joaquin valley and it's usually super cheap. http://www.yelp.com/b...

I shall be there with ingredients, sloppy clothes, and the willingness to do as I am told. I hope I don't have to bring perishables, though, like meat or dairy stuff that goes bad. I always worry that I will be Salmonella Sally.

I seem to have missed the RSVP deadline, but I'd love to come watch...

Jackie, put your name on the waitlist JIC. You never know if someone will have to drop out. It is also possible that the Ministry may need volunteers to help execute the battle.

  • Tanya M.

Special owl alert: Greetings from the Ministry of Magic Gaming Committee. The MMGC strongly encourages all participants to verify their ability to attend. Please be aware that submitting your name to the list one week prior to the event will magically bind you to battle. You will need to be able to arrive on time with your assigned ingredient, participate in the 90 minute cooking battle, and stay for judging. If you cannot participate in any of these elements of the battle please do not sign up. The Ministry cannot be responsible for what may happen to those that attempt break the bonds of this magical agreement.

Participants are also encouraged to review Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone prior to the battle. Having a strong knowledge of this famous book will help your team in its effort to win the title of Wizard Chef Champions.

    See you at the games!

Just a little note about this event - you do not need stellar cooking skills for this event. You will be cooking on a team so plenty of sous chef positions available ;-)
